Our Business Development team drives the firm’s success by making connections and building relationships with potential clients, important decision-makers, and critical influencers. As a key team member, you will report to the Business Development Director, while partnering with local firm directors, designing effective business development strategies, identifying opportunities, and assisting the pursuit team – ultimately driving firm growth and moving the needle.
As a Business Development Executive, you will work both independently and with a highly motivated and skilled business development and marketing team that shares your passion for driving business growth. You will be counted on to support and execute go-to-market business development initiatives, collaborate on marketing strategies and tactics, build local relationships, and help drive firm revenue generation.
You will be responsible for:
  • Developing prospect relationships with companies and organizations that meet the firm’s ideal client profile
  • Building and maintaining relationships of referral sources (attorneys, bankers, private equity contacts, wealth managers) through networking, outreach, and community involvement
  • Being an ambassador representing the firm at industry associations, chambers of commerce, networking events, and community organizations to build the firm's visibility and referral network
  • Assisting with the firmwide business development culture through coaching internal stakeholders
  • Leading and coaching prospect teams on business development strategies and best practices
  • Utilizing strategic marketing tools including CRM, research tools, and proposal management tools
  • Collaborating with the marketing team on collateral, case studies, digital campaigns, and thought leadership that support active pursuits
  • Tracking competitive intelligence and local market trends within the firm's core industries and service lines to inform growth strategy
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of leads, opportunities, and referral relationships in the firm's CRM; report on pipeline health, conversion rates, and win/loss trends
  • Championing Barnes Dennig’s differentiated value story
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Relevant work experience such as 5+ years of experience in Business Development and/or sales or sale management; professional or financial services focus preferred
  • Proven revenue generating background through business development, sales, and growth efforts
  • Demonstrated track record of building referral networks and knowledge of target industries and markets
  • Aptitude for business development technology; experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, ZoomInfo, and business intelligence tools, proposal management software (PandaDoc) preferred
  • Highly effective with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting to Directors and prospective clients.
  • Executive presence, able to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise, while managing and maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Strong project and people management experience, collaborative spirit and approach, strong organizational skills, and great attention to detail to manage multiple pursuits and relationships simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels inside and outside the organization, take initiative, anticipate problems, and formulate solutions, exercise good judgement and decision-making, prioritize and multi- task, work independently, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, travel in target markets and between offices, work evenings and weekends as needed
