Business Development Executive

Position Summary

The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with financiers and business partners, and supporting cross-border business operations through multilingual communication, translation, and financial presentations in the shipping industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, source, and establish relationships with new financiers and financial institutions, particularly in Singapore, Japan and China.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing financiers and business partners to support business growth.
  • Liaise with overseas business partners and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project coordination.
  • Communicate with Japanese- and Chinese-speaking clients, business partners, and stakeholders to support business operations where these languages are required.
  • Translate business, financial, legal, and corporate documents between English, Chinese and Japanese and vice versa as required.
  • Provide interpretation during meetings, negotiations, and business discussions involving Japanese- and Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver business and financial presentations in English, Japanese, and Chinese for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare financial proposals, reports, presentation materials, and business correspondence in English, Japanese, and Chinese.
  • Apply appropriate financial terminology in written and verbal communications.
  • Conduct market research to identify business opportunities and financing solutions in Japan and China.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure the successful execution of business development initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends and financing opportunities in the assigned markets.
  • Maintain accurate records of business activities, client communications, and partnership agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, Japanese, and Chinese. This is required to communicate with clients, business partners, and overseas stakeholders in China and Japan, prepare multilingual business and financial documents, and deliver business presentations in these target languages.
  • Experience in business development, finance, banking, or international business is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial terminology and business documentation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong translation and interpretation skills in a business environment.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel overseas for business meetings when required.
