Business Development Manager
Job Purpose:
The PPM BDM is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of key customer accounts across the Fire and Security division. The role focuses on growing recurring Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) revenue, identifying opportunities for additional works, securing new business, managing contract renewals, and ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service.
Working closely with the Sales Manager will maximise revenue through account development, cross-selling, tender management and strategic customer relationships while ensuring commercial compliance and profitability.
Roles and responsibilities:
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Grow the Company's PPM portfolio through existing and new customers.
- Manage the renewal and re-tender process for all allocated PPM contracts.
- Review each renewal to identify opportunities to increase contract value through additional services or updated system requirements.
- Ensure contract pricing accurately reflects:
- Labour costs
- Travel and parking costs (particularly for contracts outside the Bristol area)
- Manufacturer price increases
- Additional equipment added during the contract term
- Liaise with the Service Department and Finance team to ensure all contract costs.
Sales and Business Development
- Identify and secure opportunities for:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance contracts
- Small Works
- Fire and Security installation projects
- System upgrades
- Compliance services
- Generate new business from Group customers, including referrals from Fire and Water divisions and strategic partners.
- Develop relationships with new clients and key stakeholders across target sectors.
- Promote the full range of Group services to existing customers to maximise cross-selling opportunities.
Key Account Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
- Manage existing client accounts to maximise customer retention and long-term revenue.
- Conduct regular client meetings and account reviews, grouping customer visits efficiently where practical.
- Act as the primary commercial contact for allocated key accounts.
- Ensure customer satisfaction whilst identifying opportunities to increase contract value.
Quotations and Commercial Management
- Produce quotations for maintenance contracts, upgrades and small works
- Prepare quotations with technical support from the Engineering and Operations teams where required.
- Review engineer worksheets provided by Will and convert identified remedial works into customer quotations.
- Ensure all quotations over £5,000 receive the appropriate internal commercial review and approval prior to submission.
- Obtain final approval before submitting:
- Any significant in-house tenders
