We are recruiting on behalf of a pioneering, fast-growing heat network specialist investing over £1 billion by 2030 into the UK's low-carbon infrastructure. They are assembling an elite, high-calibre team to take massive infrastructure pipelines from initial opportunity all the way to signed contract.
As Business Development Manager, you will own multi-million-pound deal cycles (£1M to £15M+) across hospitals, major housing developments, and commercial landmarks. You will have total autonomy over a defined local market, backed directly by in-house technical, commercial, and legal experts whenever you need them.

Identify & Engage: Map out and build long-term relationships with major heat users, local planning authorities, developers, and public sector estate owners etc

Deal Structuring: Shape complex commercial propositions and agree Heads of Terms that balance customer affordability with long-term project viability.

Pipeline Management: Maintain a probability-weighted pipeline via CRM and present key commercial risks/opportunities to internal investment forums.

Market Presence: Become the go-to local expert by hosting roundtable events, tracking local planning portals, and positioning district heating as the premier low-carbon choice.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal engineering, legal, and delivery teams to ensure seamless handovers at contract close.
Essential Criteria:

Track Record: Proven success navigating long, complex sales cycles (1–2 years) and negotiating with senior C-suite stakeholders.

Commercial Acumen: Strong fluency across commercial, financial, technical, and legal frameworks.

Self-Starter Mindset: High emotional intelligence, low ego, and the drive to operate independently in dynamic, evolving markets.
Desirable Experience:

Backgrounds in district heating, HVAC, utilities, energy infrastructure, major property development, or asset management (transferable experience from sectors like telecom/fibre infrastructure is also highly regarded).

Working knowledge of UK planning policy, low-carbon energy compliance, or local authority procurement.

Basic Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 (dependent on experience)

Bonus: Discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance
