Business Development Manager - Defense/Aero/Marine

Your Tasks

  • Drive strategic growth of Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services in North America’s defense, aerospace, and marine sectors.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies aligned with TÜV SÜD’s global vision and regional priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Ministries of Defense, OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and technology innovators.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and regulatory trends (e.g., MIL-STD, NATO, ITAR, AS9100).
  • Support internal capability development, including lab upgrades and accreditation for defense-related testing.
  • Represent TÜV SÜD in industry associations, working groups, and innovation clusters.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, or marine sectors in strategic or commercial roles.
  • Strong knowledge of defense/aero/marine standards and certification ecosystems.
  • Proven ability in strategy development and execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and globally.
  • Familiarity with EMC, RF, battery, environmental, or cyber testing (nice-to-have).

Additional Information

  • The anticipated annual base pay range for this full-time position is $120,000 – $160,000. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target, subject to eligibility and other requirements. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with employer match, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birthing parents and 2 weeks for other parents, health plans (medical, dental, and vision), life insurance and disability, and generous paid time off.
  • Full-time position based in North America.
  • Requires periodic regional and national travel.
