Applications: Dow Plastics Additives (DPA) is a global specialty materials business that delivers advanced additive technologies and performance modifiers that enhance the processability, durability, and functionality of plastics across industries including electronics, mobility, construction, packaging, and renewable energy.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to help shape the future of Dow Plastics Additives (DPA) across Greater China and Southeast Asia. In this strategic role, you will identify and develop high-potential market opportunities, build strong partnerships with key customers and industry stakeholders, and accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions in engineering plastics, thermosets, lithium battery, and flexible acrylic film applications.
Working closely with commercial, technical, marketing, and innovation teams, you will translate market insights into actionable growth strategies, drive specification opportunities for new technologies, and influence cross-functional efforts to deliver customer value and sustainable business results.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess market trends and customer/value chain needs to bring prioritized opportunities, for a specific market segment and/or new technology
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate the opportunities, validate the value proposition and provide inputs for market penetration/expansion strategy for DPA sustainable and profitable growth
- Build external network with key value chain stakeholders/captains to implement the market strategy/plans, generating strong leads and opportunity pipelines for solid delivery
- Deepen the understanding of industry trends and customer needs, and bring them back to the team for continuous innovation
- Serve as key member from sales team for selected innovation projects, providing market/customer voice to navigate the projects and take accountability to make tangible impact from the innovation
- Drive, monitor and deliver on opportunity pipeline and innovation projects
- Drive the regular cross-functional team meetings to review the project progress and plan the clear actions to advance the efforts
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Science and relevant MBA is a plus
- A minimum of 8 years of related industry experience, preferably with both commercial and new business development experience; engineering plastics experience is a plus
- Industry experience in consumer electronics, mobility and consumer goods value chain, and/or automotive display is preferred
- Fluency in English or local native, strong on both written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in computer skills such as Microsoft 365 and CRM skills as required. Power BI and AI-tool proficiency preferred advantages.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen
- Open-minded, outside-in and inside-out thinking, be bold to take calculated risk
- Result-oriented with track records to deliver on the business growth
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong capability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Travel will be ~50%
