Business Development Manager, HPC Services

Business Development Manager, HPC Services

Contract: Permanent, full time.
Reports to: Commercial lead.

About us

We are a French engineering services company specialised in high performance computing. Our teams provide applicative support, user support and system administration inside national supercomputing centres, and deliver code modernisation, GPU porting, performance optimisation and software environment engineering for industrial clients in energy, aerospace, manufacturing and cloud.

We also build and sell our own benchmarking tooling used at exascale-class sites, an open-source deployment tool for quantum computing environments on HPC infrastructure, and MPI portability tooling. Around fifty engineers, most of them PhD-level or with a research background, working on machines that rank among the largest in Europe and the Middle East.

We are small enough that what you sell, you see delivered.

The role

You take ownership of a portfolio of industrial and public sector accounts, you open new ones, and you look after our engineers placed on those accounts to support them. You are the commercial point of contact from first meeting to renewal.

This is not a role where you hand over after signature. You scope with our technical leadership, follow the assignment, and you protect the margin.

What you will do

Own and grow existing accounts. Take over an established portfolio of industrial and public sector clients. Understand what our engineers actually do on each assignment, keep the relationship warm at operational and management level, and identify the next scope before the current one ends. Renewals and extensions are the largest part of the revenue and they are won on delivery quality, not on presentations.

Open new verticals. Build entry into segments where we have capability but no reference yet: defence and space, life sciences, financial risk computing, semiconductor design, industrial AI and cloud infrastructure providers. You will do the mapping, the outreach and the first qualification yourself. We do not have an SDR layer and we are not planning one.

Look after the consultants. Regular contact with engineers on assignment, follow-up with client managers, early detection of friction, coordination with HR on contracts and with finance on billing. You are the person who knows six weeks in advance that an assignment is at risk.

Staff and scope. Work with recruitment on open positions, qualify candidate fit against client requirements, and build proposals with our technical leadership. Pricing goes through technical validation then commercial sign-off before it reaches a client.

Represent us. Trade shows, user group meetings, partner events and technical conferences across Europe. You will travel, have the freedom to choose relevant events, though you will be expected to come back with named opportunities rather than a badge collection.

Keep the pipeline honest. CRM discipline, forecast accuracy, and a clear read on which deals are real.

What we are looking for

Four/Five years or more in a commercial role in HPC, scientific computing, technical software, engineering services or infrastructure. Alternatively, a technical background in HPC or scientific computing with demonstrated appetite and aptitude for the commercial side.

Enough technical fluency to hold a credible conversation about parallel computing, GPU architectures, code performance and scientific software stacks. You do not need to write the code. You do need to know when a client is describing a real problem and when they are describing a symptom.

Comfortable selling both consulting engagements and product-based offers, and comfortable managing people you do not line-manage.

Fluent French and English, both used daily. Written English at proposal standard.

Willing to travel regularly, including internationally.

Autonomous. This is a small commercial team, we have some playbook though this is not no size fit all industry.

Nice to have

Existing network in French or European industrial R&D, or inside the European supercomputing ecosystem. Familiarity with public research funding mechanisms and European tender processes. Exposure to quantum computing, AI infrastructure or cloud HPC. Experience in a technical staffing or consulting environment.

What we offer

Fixed salary plus variable indexed on the gross margin you generate. Band discussed openly at first interview.

Direct access to decision making.

Technical teams who will actually help you win, and clients who let you see the machines.

Real autonomy on territory and vertical strategy.

Process

Introductory call, interview with the commercial lead, technical conversation with our engineering leadership, final discussion on territory and package. Four steps, typically three weeks.
