Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager, you responsible for driving profitable growth and expanding the market presence of the Functional Electronic Coatings (FEC) business within the assigned region. This role develops and executes business development strategies, leads key customer engagements, manages strategic accounts, and oversees a team of Technical Sales Engineers to deliver sustainable revenue growth.

You work closely with Global Product Management, Application Support, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Marketing, the Business Development Manager identifies market opportunities, develops customer-focused solutions, and ensures successful commercialization of innovative FEC technologies.

You Will Make an Impact By:

Business Strategy & Market Development

  • Develop and implement regional business development strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Identify high-growth market segments and emerging opportunities in semiconductor packaging, leadframe manufacturing, connector manufacturing, power electronics, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, and industrial electronics.
  • Develop annual business plans, sales forecasts, and growth initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends, customer investment plans, and competitive activities to identify strategic opportunities.

Sales Leadership

  • Achieve regional sales revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
  • Lead the development of new business opportunities from prospecting through commercial implementation.
  • Manage strategic sales opportunities and major customer negotiations.
  • Review and optimize the sales pipeline to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Develop pricing strategies in collaboration with Product Management and Regional Leadership.

Key Account Management

  • Build long-term relationships with executive management, engineering, operations, quality, and procurement teams at strategic customers.
  • Develop and execute account growth plans.
  • Conduct executive business reviews and customer strategy meetings.
  • Identify cross-selling and new application opportunities across the FEC product portfolio.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop Technical Sales Engineers to achieve business objectives.
  • Establish clear performance goals, monitor progress, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.
  • Identify training and development needs for the technical sales team.

Technical & Commercial Leadership

  • Provide strategic guidance on customer process requirements and technology roadmaps.
  • Support complex technical discussions and major customer qualification projects.
  • Lead customer engagements involving advanced plating technologies, process optimization, and new product introductions.
  • Collaborate with Application Team to resolve critical customer issues and ensure long-term customer satisfaction.

Project & Opportunity Management

  • Oversee customer qualification projects and commercialization activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure successful execution of customer projects.
  • Ensure timely completion of project milestones and customer deliverables.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Global Product Management to define product positioning and launch strategies.
  • Collaborate with R&D to prioritize new product development based on market needs.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure reliable product availability.
  • Support Marketing in trade exhibitions, technical seminars, and customer events.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Prepare annual budgets, sales forecasts, and business reviews.
  • Monitor sales performance, profitability, and business metrics.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize return on investment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and commercial governance.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Electrochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Business Management is an advantage.
  • 8–15 years of experience in technical sales, business development, product management, or commercial leadership within the electronics materials, electroplating, semiconductor, or surface finishing industries.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership or team management experience.
  • Proven success in developing new business and managing strategic customer accounts.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is based in Malaysia and is responsible for supporting customers across Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, with potential future expansion to include Vietnam.
  • In addition to regular travel within Malaysia, the role requires a willingness to travel internationally (approximately 30–50% of the time) to customer sites, regional offices, trade exhibitions, technical seminars, and industry conferences.
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable managing customer engagements across multiple countries and working effectively in a dynamic, regional business environment.
