Discussion

Thousands of us around the world wake up every day with a common purpose: to make the world a safer, more secure, and sustainable place. Science is in our DNA; we are endlessly curious and passionate about seeking and speaking the truth. We take delight in knowing that our work makes a meaningful contribution to society, and we are proud that our culture is centered on integrity, collaboration, inclusion, and excellence. UL stands at the forefront of technological advancement, and we are continually challenged to find new ways to foster innovation and positive change. Satisfying? Yes. Exciting? Absolutely!

Our comprehensive portfolio of renewable energy solutions helps stakeholders plan, design, finance, build, invest, operate, maintain, and manage wind both on land and offshore, solar, and energy storage throughout the project lifecycle and across the value chain. Working at UL means you will be part of a team delivering proven science, expert engineering, and innovative solutions that address the unique challenges of these industries.

As Business Development Manager for Korea and Taiwan, you will lead commercial growth for UL Solutions’ renewable energy portfolio, with a primary focus on onshore wind, offshore wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind digital solutions. You will own assigned sales targets, strengthen strategic customer relationships, acquire new customers, and convert market opportunities into profitable work. Working closely with regional and global colleagues and the project delivery team, you will help shape solutions, resolve customer and delivery issues, and ensure a smooth transition from opportunity development through project execution.

  • Grow UL Solutions’ renewables business in Korea and Taiwan towards agreed sales goals, keeping a clear view of your opportunities and key accounts.
  • Help shape how we grow in wind, energy storage, and digital solutions, bringing your market insight to the plan.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with developers, owners, investors, lenders, utilities, OEMs, EPC contractors, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Open doors with new customers through networking, introductions, and referrals, and turn first conversations into lasting partnerships.
  • Meet customers regularly, including at industry events and appropriate business-development engagements, to deepen relationships and advance opportunities.
  • Listen to customers, understand what matters to them, and connect them with the UL Solutions services that help.
  • Introduce our advisory and digital services, with our technical experts on hand to support detailed discussions.
  • Guide opportunities from first contact to signed contract, working with our technical, legal, finance, and delivery teams on proposals and negotiations.
  • Help customers discover and adopt our wind digital solutions.
  • Stay close to customers once projects begin, working with delivery teams so every customer feels well looked after.
  • Coordinate with broader regional and global teams to bring the right expertise to customers and deliver an integrated international account experience.
  • Be our eyes and ears in the market: stay close to customers, track new projects, policy changes, and competitor activity, and spot where the next opportunities are.
  • Lead or support market studies on customer needs, market size, and trends, and share what you learn to help shape our offerings and growth plans.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or any related field.

  • Around 5–10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally in renewable energy, power, consulting, or a related B2B industry (title and level will reflect your experience).

  • Demonstrated success in meeting sales targets, developing strategic accounts, acquiring new customers, and securing complex solution-based work.

  • A strong network in Korea (Taiwan is a plus) and a genuine curiosity about the renewable energy market, with a feel for what customers need and where the market is heading.

  • Exposure to technical knowledge of wind, energy storage, or digital/software solutions is a plus.

  • A natural relationship-builder who is confident opening doors and engaging senior decision-makers.

  • Good commercial sense and experience taking opportunities from first meeting to signed deal.

  • Demonstrated international experience working effectively with broader regional and global teams across cultures, functions, and time zones.

  • Fluent written and spoken Korean and English; Mandarin capability is a plus.

  • Enjoys meeting customers, representing UL Solutions at industry events, and building relationships face to face.

  • Able and happy to travel regularly (around 25% of the time), mainly within Korea and occasionally across the region.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the initiative and resilience to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
