Your new role
Main Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Manager is a senior role responsible for shaping RFM’s long-term growth strategy, working as part of a team, with the Strategic Business Development Director, Bid Director and wider Bid Team. This means leading pursuit of complex asset and FM and associated consultancy contracts, driving market expansion across key sectors in a competitive and evolving property, estates and regeneration industries.
The Business Development Manager will ensure that RFM is positioned as a trusted FM partner, and seen as a credible provider of consultancy services to help clients transform and do different through:
- Asset led propositions / service offer
- Differentiated solutions
- Commercial innovation, and
- First-class customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth Strategy and Market Leadership
- Assist with the development of and execution of a 5-year business development strategy aligned with RFM’s business plan covering 2027-
- Assist where requested to shape with the RFM Board on agreed business plans and market entry .
- Anticipate market trends, competitive moves, and regulatory changes, and where requested guiding RFM’s positioning and business plan.
- Identify, qualify, and prioritise target sectors (e.g., education, healthcare, defence, housing, local and central government).
- Under the direction of the Director - conduct market and competitor analysis to shape pricing, service offerings, and differentiation strategies.
- Working with the Director, articulate and set out value propositions for utilisation given the above beneath the overarching transformation strategy and delivery plan
Sales Leadership
- Support the Director in pursuit of large scale, high value asset based FM contracts, and associated services having identified 1. Key customers 2. Associated key opportunities and 3. Tender opportunities
- Build and maintain a senior-level pipeline of opportunities, ensuring accuracy in forecasting and prioritisation.
- Support and where required, lead on major bids, guiding bid teams, pricing structures, and win themes.
- Support and where required, lead on RFM’s new brand and marketing approach, working closely with the Marketing department as required.
