Business Development Manager
Job Scope: Business Development Manager in Marine/ Diving company
Reporting to: Commercial Director
Team: Business Development
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Management
· Lead and manage the commercial team to ensure all customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) are attended to in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
· Oversee preparation, submission, and follow-up of quotations, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with company strategy.
· Monitor quote conversion rates and identify areas for pricing or process improvements.
· Negotiate commercial terms with customers and vendors where necessary.
· Maintain strong commercial governance to ensure compliance with company policies and profitability targets.
· Support Finance in following up on outstanding accounts receivable.
2. Sales Management
· Conduct visits and deliver presentations on Lagersmith and for SGS diving services to potential clients.
· Proactively call and engage customers upon receipt of complex maintenance and repairs RFQs to clarify requirements, position value-added solutions, and discuss potential price agreements.
· Proactively call customers to seek new business opportunities, especially for days with low operational activities.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for commercial discussions.
· Drive new business opportunities through proactive outreach, market research, and customer engagement.
· Track sales pipeline progress, ensuring alignment with revenue targets and business objectives.
· Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth handover from commercial to execution phases.
3. Team Leadership & Development
· Supervise, guide, train and mentor the commercial team to deliver high-quality work.
· Conduct monthly reviews of team performance, providing feedback and training where needed.
· Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and customer-first mindset within the team.
· Ensure workload distribution is balanced, and deadlines are consistently met.
4. Reporting & Strategy/BD
· Provide regular reports on quotation activity, win/loss analysis, sales pipeline, and customer feedback to the Commercial Director.
· Contribute to pricing strategies, market positioning, and sales planning.
· Support the Commercial Director in developing and executing growth strategies for the region.
· Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to adjust strategies accordingly.
· Provide weekly updates on the status and developments of Key Accounts and Fleet Service Agreements (FSA) contracts
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Quotation turnaround time (RFQs responded within 2 hours during weekdays and 24 hours during weekends).
· Quote-to-win ratio and overall sales conversion.
· Revenue and margin growth against targets.
· Customer engagement metrics (calls, follow-ups, agreements reached).
· Team performance and development milestones.
