Business Development Manager

Vention helps companies build new products and improve how existing software is developed through AI-enabled delivery and Agentic Engineering.

For established products, we identify where AI can reduce development time, improve quality, or lower cost, then focus on the areas with the greatest business impact. For new products, we help clients put the right AI-enabled delivery approach in place from the start.

We have applied the same principles internally, developing the practices and frameworks behind Spec-Driven Development and Agentic Engineering and now using them in client work.

This is backed by more than 20 years of software engineering experience, 250+ active clients today, and successful partnerships with companies including IBM, PayPal, PwC, Costa Coffee, and ClassPass.

In the UK, you’ll join our established London office and commercial team, with a local base for client meetings, events, and relationship-building.

  • Self-source and own the full new-business cycle, using targeted outreach, your network, and events to create opportunities, with marketing-generated leads as additional support
  • Lead discovery with founders, CTOs, and other senior stakeholders, focusing the conversation on business and engineering outcomes rather than capacity
  • Work alongside Vention’s Solution Architects, Delivery leaders, AI experts, and engineers to turn client priorities into credible solutions and a clear execution path
  • Develop opportunities across AI-enabled delivery, modernization, and new product development, bringing the right technical expertise into the conversation as the deal develops
  • Use AI-powered sales workflows and modern GTM tooling to improve research, targeting, outreach, and account insight without automating conversations for its own sake
  • Build Vention’s visibility and pipeline through UK startup, technology, and ecosystem relationships and events
  • Ensure a smooth transition into delivery, then own and grow the client relationship through its first year
  • Maintain clean pipeline data, strong forecasting discipline, and continuously improve how you prioritize and develop opportunities

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to win new UK clients and own the full commercial relationship from first conversation through close and first-year growth.

This is a hands-on sales role where you’ll have real freedom in how you build your pipeline and develop relationships. You’ll combine your own market activity with opportunities generated through Vention’s marketing, events, and ecosystem, while our UK CTO, Delivery leaders, AI experts, and engineers join client conversations when deeper technical expertise can move the opportunity forward.

Reporting to the Business Development Director, you’ll build your own book of business and help grow Vention’s UK presence as we move toward $250M+ in annual revenue.

  • 3+ years of experience in tech consultative sales or talent/recruitment sales
  • Proven ability to self-source and close complex deals, owning opportunities from first contact through close
  • Confidence working with both technical and executive stakeholders, including founders, product leaders, engineering leaders, and senior business buyers
  • A strong understanding of product development and how fast-moving technology companies scale
  • The ability to sell consultatively around business outcomes rather than lead with headcount or rate cards
  • Experience using modern GTM tooling and AI-powered sales workflows to improve research, targeting, and opportunity development
  • High autonomy and ownership — you make sound judgment calls, move opportunities forward, and stay accountable for outcomes
  • A builder mindset: you are comfortable testing approaches, learning from the market, and improving how you sell as you go
