About Nomba
Launched in 2017 as Kudi.ai, a chatbot that enables financial transactions through social apps, Nomba has evolved into one of Nigeria’s leading financial technology platforms. We began by empowering everyday people to serve as neighbourhood banks—offering essential services like withdrawals, transfers, and bill payments, especially in underserved communities. That foundation has grown into a powerful infrastructure that now processes over $1 billion in payments every month.

Today, Nomba serves more than 1 million customers—spanning consumers, agents, and businesses of all sizes. Our platform now includes a full suite of business banking tools such as advanced dashboards, treasury features, and integrated payment solutions that help businesses manage their finances and scale efficiently. On the consumer side, we offer intuitive tools for wealth building and financial control, including flexible savings options, spend analytics, scheduled transfers, and interest-free Islamic savings. We’re not just powering payments—we’re helping people and businesses move forward with confidence.

With a team of over 250 passionate and driven individuals, we’re not just building financial tools — we’re pushing boundaries and reimagining what’s possible for millions across Nigeria. Every line of code, every customer interaction, and every new idea contributes to our mission: to enable economic prosperity by helping individuals and businesses run efficiently and achieve their goals. As you join us on this journey, know that you’re becoming part of something bigger — a team committed to shaping the future of finance and unlocking opportunity for all.
About the role

The role in one line

You run a market. You own the merchants in it, the team that sells to them, and the money the hub makes.

A Nomba hub is a fully resourced business placed inside large trading markets. You are the most senior Nomba person on that ground. You are measured on book growth, revenue, cost discipline and portfolio quality — not on activity reports.

What you're actually selling: one merchant, three products

Every hub is built on a simple idea. A trader does three things with money: collects it, borrows it, and changes it. Nomba sells all three, and the Hub Manager's job is to make sure no merchant is left holding only one.

1. Collections — how we get in the door. POS, transfers, This is the first product and the foundation of everything else. Collections give us the merchant's daily turnover, and daily turnover is what makes credit safe and FX predictable. A merchant collecting on Nomba is a merchant we can see.

2. Credit — how we make the relationship pay. Loans underwritten on the flow we can already see. Cheaper to originate, safer to lend, harder for a competitor to take. Collections without credit leaves money on the table; credit without collections is a blind loan.

3. FX / OTC — how we win the importers. Markets run on imports. The trader who needs FX every month is the trader who will never leave you if you serve that need well. FX is the stickiest of the three and the fastest route into the biggest names in the market.

The rule you enforce every day: we don't sell products, we place bundles. A rep who books a loan without moving the merchant's collections onto Nomba, or who signs a POS and never asks what the merchant imports, has done half a job.

Team leadership objectives

The targets above are not achievable by one person. You will hit them through a field team, or you will not hit them.

Build the team. Recruit, train and deploy Market/Account Managers and adhoc canvassers sized to the market. Hire for hustle and local credibility — the trader must recognise your rep.

Make every rep a three-product seller. No rep is "the loan guy" or "the POS guy". Every field member must be able to open a collections conversation, qualify a loan, and spot an FX customer. Certify them, test them, and don't deploy anyone who can't do all three.

Set individual numbers, not team vibes. Every rep carries a personal target across book, merchant count and bundle. Publish the numbers. Rank the team weekly.

Run a hard cadence. Daily morning huddle before the market opens, weekly pipeline and portfolio review, monthly performance review against target. Short, numbers-first, no theatre.

Coach in the field, not the office. Regular accompaniments and market walks with each rep. You should be in the market with your team several days a week — this is not a desk role.

Own collections rigour with the team. The same people who book the loan chase the repayment. Build the follow-up discipline early; a hub that lends well and collects badly loses money.

Manage performance honestly. Recognise and reward the top of the table quickly. Address underperformance within a defined window — coach, then decide. Build a bench so no single rep's exit dents the book.

Grow your successors. Identify and develop team leads who can run sub-markets, so the hub scales beyond your personal coverage.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in financial services, fintech, or lending/credit business development, with a real track record of carrying revenue or portfolio targets. SME/retail credit, agent banking or trade-finance experience is a strong plus.

  • Proven people leadership — you have built, trained and managed field sales or credit teams (direct reports and/or agent networks) and can hold 20+ people to daily and weekly numbers.

  • Business acumen and P&L literacy — comfortable owning a budget, reading a credit and revenue model, and making the trade-off between growth, cost and risk.

  • A credible network in the market — existing relationships with market leaders and trade associations, or a demonstrated ability to build them fast.

  • Working knowledge of credit mechanics — pricing, NPL management, collections — plus comfort selling or overseeing sales of merchant acceptance and FX products.

  • Multi-product selling instinct — you naturally look at a merchant and see three needs, not one transaction.

  • Resilient, hands-on operator — based in-market, travelling across the state, entrepreneurial. This is a build-from-scratch, playbook-defining role, not a maintenance role.

  • Clear reporting skills — you can explain performance and risk plainly to the Credit Portfolio Manager and senior stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary

  • Performance bonus / sales commission

  • 13th month allowance

  • Health insurance, pension and paid time off

  • Learning & development allowance

  • Career progression in a performance-driven environment
