Business Manager COO Finance

The opportunity

We are looking for a strong, proactive and trusted Business Manager COO Finance who can help the Global Head COO Finance and the COO Finance Management Team translate strategic priorities into clear decisions, disciplined execution and impactful communication.

This is a role for someone who combines structure with senior stakeholder sensitivity; someone who sees what needs to happen, connects the right people, creates clarity where there is ambiguity, and helps the leadership team stay focused on what matters most.

COO Finance is at the heart of ING’s Finance transformation and operations; accountable for executing ING Finance and COO strategy and enabling the organisation to evolve towards one global digital bank. Our mission is to enable excellence in Finance through real-time business insights, state-of-the-art technologies, optimal use of data and highly effective operations.

The team

You will be part of the COOF leadership environment and work directly with the Global Head COOF. The Business Manager reports directly into the Global Head COO Finance and works closely with the COOF leadership team.

You will operate across COOF and its key business and support functions, acting as a linking pin across stakeholders, priorities and decision-making forums. You will be contributing to strategy development and implementation, monitoring internal business processes and acting as a linking pin for stakeholders outside COOF.

The environment is fast-paced, senior, international and impact-driven. You will work at the intersection of strategy, execution, people priorities, governance, communication and operational excellence helping COO Finance operate as one effective and globally connected organization.

Your role and impact

As Business Manager COOF, you are the right hand, trusted partner, and execution accelerator to the Global Head COOF and COOF Management Team. You help shape the COOF agenda, enable high-quality decision-making and ensure strategy, people priorities, communications and management processes are connected end-to-end.

You bring structure, challenge and execution power, turning leadership discussions into clear choices, accountable follow-up and visible progress.

In this role, you will:

• Drive and accelerate the COOF agenda by contributing to COOF strategy development, implementation planning and follow-up on the key priorities of the COOF Management Team.
• Drive effective governance and operational excellence by orchestrating recurring key leadership forums (e.g. MT meetings, offsites, townhalls), shaping and delivering leadership materials, capturing decisions, ensuring disciplined execution of follow-up actions, while supporting planning, forecasting, resource management and management reporting across COO Finance.
• Act as a strategic sparring partner bringing structure, challenge and practical judgement to day-to-day business management topics.
• Drive people and organisational priorities by ensuring that OHI improvement plans, strategic people topics and leadership priorities are addressed, translated into action and followed through.
• Challenge and improve content, processes and organisational effectiveness by identifying priority areas, simplifying complex topics and working with relevant Finance, HR, Data and business stakeholders to improve quality, speed and impact.
• Create clarity by developing compelling leadership messages, board-level presentations, internal updates and management briefings tailored to different audiences.
• Connect stakeholders by creating alignment across COOF, Finance, COO, HR, and business stakeholders
• Turn data into action by consolidating relevant performance, financial, workforce and organisational information into clear insights, options and recommended actions.
• Lead selected cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, managing stakeholders, dependencies, risks and delivery discipline from idea to implementation.

How to succeed

We are looking for someone who combines senior-level judgement with hands-on delivery power. You are comfortable operating close to senior leadership, but equally willing to get into the detail when that is what is needed to move things forward.

You will be successful if you bring:

• Proven experience in business management, strategy, consulting, transformation, Chief of Staff, or comparable leadership advisory roles for senior executives.
• Strong executive stakeholder management skills, capable of building alignment across functions, geographies and leadership teams.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to shape narratives, facilitate decision-making and engage senior audiences.
• Proactive, hands-on attitude with a strong sense of ownership, continuous improvement and organisational impact.
• A structured and analytical mindset, with the ability to connect strategy, data, business priorities and execution.
• Strong planning and execution discipline, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes under pressure.
• Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity and the confidence to challenge constructively while maintaining trust and credibility.
• Navigate ambiguity, anticipate what is coming next and proactively address emerging risks and opportunities.
• Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
