Business Operations and Change Advisor
NewBe an early applicantMai te hiku ki te taurapa, whitikina e te rā
From the tail of the fish to the tail of the waka, shines the sun
This whakataukī speaks to our journey across Aotearoa, one waka, one purpose, powered by the natural forces that sustain us. Meridian is Aotearoa’s largest renewable electricity producer, generating energy from the winds of Tāwhirimātea, the waters of Tangaroa, and the warmth of Tama-nui-te-rā.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
Strategy & Portfolio is where Meridian’s biggest commercial choices take shape. As our Business Operations and Change Advisor, you’ll help turn those priorities into simpler processes, practical change and measurable value.
This 18-month fixed term role is a hands-on, mid-level role for someone who enjoys getting under the hood of how work gets done, challenging unnecessary complexity and seeing improvements through from idea to adoption. You’ll work across business and technology teams, using digital tools, automation and AI where they genuinely improve outcomes.
Alongside change delivery, you’ll build enough knowledge of our commercial and settlements activities to provide dependable operational cover and help strengthen the processes and controls that keep the team running well. There’s real scope to grow your capability and impact as the role develops.
Āu mahi | What you’ll be doing
- Map how work happens today, uncover pain points, risks and dependencies, and design simpler future ways of working.
- Turn business priorities into well-defined improvement opportunities, lead smaller initiatives and support larger programmes through to adoption.
- Connect Strategy & Portfolio with technology and delivery teams, translating business needs into practical requirements, testing and implementation.
- Spot useful opportunities for digital tools, automation and AI, and help teams confidently adopt new ways of working.
- Track whether changes are delivering the intended value and use what you learn to shape the next improvement.
- Build working knowledge of critical commercial and settlements activities, provide backup when needed, and keep documentation, controls and handovers current.
Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tēnei tūranga | What you’ll bring
You’re a practical change-maker who is curious about how things work and energised by making them better. You can navigate complexity without adding to it, build trust across different teams and keep momentum from problem definition through to delivery and realised benefit.
- Experience in business process improvement, process mapping, change delivery or business analysis.
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to bridge business and technology conversations.
- Analytical thinking, sound commercial judgement and clear communication.
- Exposure to technology implementation, automation or AI-enabled ways of working would be useful; energy, trading or settlements experience is helpful but not essential.
