The Gas Contracting, Damage Prevention, and Leak Survey Intern will provide administrative and project support to the Distribution Operations organization. This position offers hands-on exposure to utility construction, contractor management, damage prevention programs, regulatory compliance activities, and leak survey operations.

The intern will work closely with Project Managers, Senior Work Coordinators, Supervisors, and other operational staff to support day-to-day business activities, maintain project documentation, assist with reporting and data management, and help coordinate work across internal and external stakeholders. This role is designed to provide practical experience in project administration, utility operations, and continuous process improvement within a regulated utility environment.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
-Support Project Managers, Senior Work Coordinators, and Supervisors with administrative and operational tasks.
-Maintain project files, work order documentation, and departmental records.
-Assist with tracking project schedules, milestones, and key deliverables.
-Assist with data entry, quality assurance reviews, and document control activities.
-Help prepare presentations, spreadsheets, and management reports for department leadership.
-Support work order closeout activities and project record management.
-Perform other administrative, project coordination, and operational support duties as assigned

This position is for a May 24, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements:
- Current student, Freshman or higher (as of Fall 2027)
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Business Administration Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Finance
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience using data analysis or project tracking tools.

- Interest in utility operations, construction management, project controls, or infrastructure programs.
-Previous administrative, customer service, or project support experience.
-Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
-Strong organizational and time management skills.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment.
-Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.30 to $24.50 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
