Role Summary
Drive data-informed decision making by translating business needs into clear requirements and scalable Power BI solutions. You will own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle—from discovery and requirement gathering to data modeling, dashboard development, governance, and user adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements & Analysis
- Lead workshops, interviews, and process mapping (BPMN) to capture business goals, KPIs, and pain points.
- Produce BRDs/FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process/data flow diagrams.
- Perform gap, feasibility, and cost–benefit analyses; conduct root-cause analysis using data.

- Data & BI Delivery
- Define metrics and data contracts; translate KPIs into semantic models and datasets.
- Build Power BI dashboards and paginated reports with robust DAX measures and Power Query (M).
- Design star/snowflake models; optimize relationships, aggregations, and query performance.
- Implement row-level security (RLS), certified datasets, and deployment pipelines in Power BI Service.
- Manage workspaces, gateways, refresh schedules, and versioning; coordinate releases and UAT.
- Define metrics and data contracts; translate KPIs into semantic models and datasets.
- Governance & Quality
- Establish data definitions, dictionaries, and lineage documentation.
- Partner with data engineering on ETL/ELT, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
- Define test plans, validate results, and maintain runbooks and support SOPs.

- Stakeholder Management & Adoption
- Act as a bridge between business, product, and engineering; prioritize backlogs (Jira/Azure DevOps).
- Deliver training, usage guidance, and change management to drive self-service analytics.
- Present insights and recommendations with clear storytelling.

Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years as a Business/Systems Analyst, including 2+ years hands-on with Power BI.
- Strong Power BI skills: DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling (star schema), performance tuning, RLS.
- Proficient SQL (joins, CTEs, window functions) and data profiling.
- Experience with BI lifecycle in Agile/Scrum environments (Jira/Azure DevOps/Confluence).
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Azure analytics stack (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of APIs/REST/JSON, ETL/ELT concepts; familiarity with Git-based workflows.
- Tools: DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit; experience with Power BI Premium features.
- Certifications: Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), PSM/CSPO, IIBA CCBA/CBAP.
- Nice-to-have: Python/R for analytics, statistics, Power Automate/Power Apps, embedded analytics.
- Domain experience in [BFSI/Healthcare/Retail/Manufacturing/etc.].
Success Metrics (KPIs)
- Report adoption and satisfaction (usage growth, NPS).
- Cycle time from request to deployment; backlog throughput.
- Data quality and refresh reliability; reduction in manual reporting hours.
- Performance benchmarks (e.g., <3s median visual/DAX query time).
- Self-service enablement (share of certified datasets, reuse rate).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.
