About the Role
This role is responsible for managing and enhancing Midland Brick’s UniVerse data environment, ensuring the integrity, availability and effective use of business-critical data. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will translate operational needs into practical data, reporting and system solutions that drive informed decision-making and business improvement.
You will design and maintain data integrations, reporting and analytics solutions, while documenting system architecture, data flows and business processes to reduce risk and strengthen organisational knowledge. Partnering with both internal teams and external vendors, you will champion continuous improvement, support change initiatives, and ensure data management practices align with security, compliance and governance standards.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented data professional who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent business engagement skills. You will have experience working with databases, data analysis, reporting and business process improvement, with the ability to interpret complex systems, gather requirements and translate business needs into practical data-driven solutions.
You thrive in a collaborative environment and can build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation. With strong SQL skills, advanced Excel capability and a passion for data quality and continuous improvement, you are comfortable managing competing priorities, facilitating workshops and presenting insights that support informed decision-making. Exposure to modern data platforms and tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Python or Azure DevOps will be highly regarded.

Your role will include:
- Interpret and analyse business system data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Design, develop and maintain data extracts, integrations and reporting solutions.
- Ensure the integrity, quality and governance of business-critical data.
- Document system architecture, data structures and business processes.
- Translate business requirements into practical data and reporting outcomes.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Develop and maintain analytics-ready datasets and dashboards.
- Monitor and resolve data quality issues across multiple business systems.
- Support change, release and incident management activities for data-related solutions.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams to deliver business outcomes.
- Apply secure and compliant data management and engineering practices.
- Facilitate requirements gathering workshops and business process mapping activities.
- Provide insights and recommendations that support informed business decisions.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation across data and reporting functions.
- Build organisational knowledge by capturing and maintaining accurate technical and business documentation.
- Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Statistics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong experience working with data, reporting and business systems.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases and data warehouses.
- Proven ability to analyse, interpret and document complex systems and data structures.
- Demonstrated business analysis and requirements gathering experience.
- Strong process mapping and business improvement capability.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query and Pivot Tables.
- Understanding of data quality, governance, security and privacy principles.
- Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Exposure to modern data and analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Python or Azure DevOps (desirable).
- Knowledge of data integration, transformation and reporting solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information simply.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong workshop facilitation, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
