Business Systems Analyst II

Job Summary

The Business Systems Analyst II serves as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring reporting and analytics solutions meet organizational needs. This role is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, defining KPIs and reporting standards, analyzing business processes, and translating stakeholder needs into clear functional specifications for developers.
The Business Systems Analyst II partners closely with business leaders, data engineers, and BI developers to prioritize analytics initiatives, validate delivered solutions, and ensure data products support strategic and operational decision-making. Success in this role requires strong business analysis, communications, requirements management, and data governance skills, along with an understanding of reporting and analytics capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, including requirements gathering, solution design collaboration, validation, documentation, user acceptance testing, and successful go-live execution.
• Strategically plan business analysis initiatives and establish methods for effective requirement management, with a special focus on data governance and reporting standards.
• Partner with BI developers and data engineers to translate business requirements into reporting and analytics solutions.
• Implement data management strategies that ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility across the organization.
• Develop reporting requirements, KPIs, business rules, and data definitions that guide the development of analytics solutions.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and guidelines throughout all stages of the project.
• Maintain a focus on quality assurance and testing requirements, ensuring all solutions delivered meet predefined standards.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the analytics development team.
• Prioritize analytics initiatives and manage the reporting product backlog.
• Create functional specifications, wireframes, user stories, and acceptance criteria for reporting solutions.
• Evaluate reporting requests and either define requirements for development teams or directly deliver solutions through data extracts, Excel reporting, and approved reporting tools.

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, Product Analyst, or similar role within manufacturing, construction, distribution, logistics, industrial, or other operations-focused organizations.
• Experience supporting or analyzing data within ERP systems. Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is strongly preferred; experience with other ERP platforms will also be considered.
• Ability to gather, document, and validate business requirements and translate stakeholder needs into functional requirements, process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency with Excel for data analysis, reporting, and validation.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives and effectively partner with technical and business teams to deliver solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.

Skills

• Experience with data governance, data quality management, and data stewardship initiatives.
• Experience serving as a Product Owner or managing reporting, analytics, or application backlogs.
• Knowledge of Power BI capabilities and dashboard design principles sufficient to define requirements, validate solutions, and support user adoption. Hands-on Power BI development experience is beneficial but not required.
