Business Systems and Automation Manager
Salary: $95,000 – $125,000 per year

At Golden Homes Christchurch, we're looking for an exceptional individual to help us rethink, redesign and revolutionise the way our business operates. This is a hands-on innovator, problem-solver and systems thinker role where you'll understand how a business operates, identify opportunities for improvement, and actually build and implement better solutions. You'll work closely with our leadership team and across every department, helping shape the future of our business.
Key responsibilities
- Transform business processes by understanding how we currently operate, challenging inefficient practices and developing smarter, simpler ways of working
- Design and implement practical solutions that connect information, improve workflows and eliminate unnecessary administration
- Use tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Zapier, APIs and AI-assisted programming to develop innovative business solutions
- Make Google Sheets work harder by taking its capabilities to another level
- Improve integration between CRM, sales, marketing, construction, project management and administration platforms
- Take ownership of projects from initial concept through development, testing, implementation and staff training
- Help our team understand, embrace and get excited about better systems and smarter ways of working
- Deliver real gains in productivity, accuracy, communication, visibility and business performance
About you
- Proven experience in business systems, process improvement, operational efficiency, automation or digital transformation
- Advanced Google Sheets expertise — complex formulas, data management, reporting, Google Apps Script and integrations should be familiar territory
- Strong practical experience with automation, APIs, no-code/low-code tools and AI-assisted development
- Experience with platforms such as HubSpot, Buildertrend, Klaviyo, Zapier or similar systems
- The ability to build or develop practical software solutions, whether through scripting, integrations, AI-assisted coding or low-code platforms
- Strong analytical skills and an ability to see how different parts of a business connect
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge established ways of working
- A track record of actually implementing improvements, not just recommending them
- Experience in construction, property, manufacturing or another operationally complex business would be advantageous, but isn't essential
