Business Systems & Automation Manager
Salary: $130,000 – $140,000 per year
Business Systems & Automation Manager
STAG Electrical | Full-Time | 100% Remote
STAG Electrical is a fast-growing national solar and electrical business operating across Australia.
Technology, automation, reporting and AI already play a major role in how we operate across marketing, sales, operations and customer communication.
As the business continues to scale, we are looking for a Business Systems & Automation Manager to take ownership of our systems environment, lead our automation and reporting teams, and help shape the next generation of systems we use across the business.
This is not a traditional IT Manager role.
We are looking for someone who understands both business processes and technology — someone capable of working with our leadership team, improving how our systems operate today, and progressively reducing our reliance on disconnected third-party platforms over time.
The Role
You will be the internal owner of STAG's core business systems, automation and reporting environment.
You will work directly with our Managing Director and leaders across Sales, Operations and Marketing to understand how each part of the business operates and ensure our systems support it effectively.
You will directly manage our automation and reporting resources, including setting priorities, allocating work, reviewing delivery and holding the team accountable for outcomes.
This is a hands-on management role with significant ownership.
We don't want someone who simply waits for requests and passes them on.
We want someone who can understand the underlying business problem, challenge the process where necessary, determine the right solution and make sure it gets delivered.
Over time, the role will also help us move toward a more integrated internal technology environment, including identifying opportunities to replace external software and subscriptions with our own systems where it makes commercial sense.
What You'll Own
Overall ownership of STAG's business systems, automation and reporting environment
Lead and manage the automation and reporting teams, including priorities, workload and accountability
Improve and maintain our CRM, sales, operations and customer workflows
Manage integrations across platforms including Pipedrive, GoHighLevel, JustCall, Zapier and APIs
Drive the use of AI agents and automation across the business
Own reporting infrastructure, dashboards and data integrity
Manage user access, permissions, onboarding and offboarding across our platforms
Identify manual processes that can be simplified or automated
Manage external developers, specialists and software providers where required
Reduce unnecessary software and subscription costs through consolidation and better system design
Develop a long-term systems roadmap, including opportunities to build internal tools and reduce reliance on third-party platforms
Ensure systems and automations are reliable, documented and scalable as the business grows
Our Technology Environment
Our current systems include:
Pipedrive
GoHighLevel
JustCall
Zapier
Webflow
Google Ads
Meta
Google Tag Manager
Reporting and dashboard platforms
AI agents
API integrations
Custom automation workflows
You do not need experience with every platform.
You do need to be comfortable learning new systems quickly and understanding how applications, workflows and data connect across a business.
What We're Looking For
Your background may be in:
Business systems
CRM management
RevOps
Sales operations
Automation
Systems integration
No-code or low-code development
AI automation
Reporting and business intelligence
Business process improvement
Internal software or platform development
You should have a strong understanding of concepts such as:
APIs
Webhooks
CRM workflows
Automation triggers and actions
Data mapping
System integrations
AI tools and agents
Reporting and data structures
User permissions and access management
You do not need to be a software engineer.
You do need enough technical depth to diagnose problems, design solutions, understand the quality of work being delivered and effectively manage technical resources.
Experience working with developers or building internal software tools would be highly regarded.
The Person We're Looking For
Technical capability matters, but ownership, leadership and commercial thinking matter just as much.
You should be someone who can:
Manage technical people and hold them accountable
Set clear priorities and keep the team focused on the highest-value work
Understand a business process from beginning to end
Identify inefficiencies and unnecessary manual work
Turn business requirements into practical technical solutions
Challenge poor processes rather than simply automate them
Communicate clearly with non-technical managers
Troubleshoot problems and take responsibility for resolving them
Review work critically rather than simply accepting that it is "done"
Balance speed, reliability and complexity
Understand the total cost of technology decisions
Identify when buying software makes sense and when building internally is the better option
Work independently and lead effectively in a remote environment
We are looking for someone who can walk into a process, understand how it works and confidently say:
"There is a better way to do this."
Then make sure it actually gets delivered.
Why Join STAG?
STAG has already built a significant technology, automation and reporting capability.
The next stage is about bringing stronger internal ownership to that function and continuing to improve how systems, automation and AI are used across the business.
You will have direct access to senior management and genuine influence over how our systems are designed and how the function is run.
This role goes beyond maintaining existing software.
You will have the opportunity to simplify our technology stack, reduce unnecessary software costs, build internal capability and help shape a more integrated STAG-owned platform over time.
As the business continues to grow nationally, this role will play an increasingly important part in how STAG operates.
Location: 100% remote within Australia.
If you are equally comfortable managing people, discussing business processes with senior managers and working through CRM architecture, APIs, integrations, automation, reporting and internal systems development, we'd like to hear from you.
