Business Systems & Reporting Analyst

Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 per year

About the role

This role bridges the gap between DFKPA's accounting operations and the technology that supports them. The Business Systems & Reporting Analyst understands how a professional services firm runs - WIP, billing, and practice management systems and turns that understanding into better reporting, smarter dashboards, and a more useful intranet. The role sits at the centre of DFKPA's data warehouse development, working across source systems, integration and automation, the governed data layer, and the reporting and AI layer to turn the firm's own practice, compliance, operations, and knowledge systems into one governed source of truth. Once proven internally, this build becomes the blueprint for a repeatable data warehouse and reporting product that DFKPA can implement and support for its clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Work across the firm's practice/workflow, compliance, operations, and knowledge systems including XPM, SharePoint, MYOB, LastPass, CRM, FuseSign, Business Fitness, Practice Ignition, CAS360, ATOmate, the Tax Portal, BGL, Insightful, 3CX, Outlook, and the firm's procedures, policies, and intranet as source data for reporting and automation

  • Build and maintain standardised data ingestion from these systems using APIs and MCP connectors

  • Design and build low-code orchestration using Power Automate and custom scripts to move and transform data between systems

  • Establish validation, mapping, and refresh controls so data flowing into the warehouse is accurate and reliable

  • Identify and implement opportunities for business process automation across systems, workflows, reporting, and administrative processes

  • Help build and maintain a clean, joined, governed data warehouse for DFKPA's own practice, compliance, operations, and knowledge data as the firm's single source of truth

  • Develop and maintain the underlying semantic model covering client, job, staff, budget, progress, and lodgement data

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards at firm, division, Ledger Manager, and individual level

  • Support the development of AI and knowledge agents covering procedures, reviews, letters of engagement (LOEs), and management reporting frameworks (MRF)

  • Maintain and build out the firm's intranet/SharePoint site - structure, content, and permissions and embed tools and dashboards where useful

About you

  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational/dimensional data modelling (star schema, fact and dimension tables) to support data warehouse design

  • Advanced Power BI skills, data modelling, relationships, DAX measures, row-level security (RLS), dataflows, and workspace/deployment management

  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformation logic, including Power Query (M language)

  • Practical experience with Microsoft Power Automate and cloud flows for orchestration, and an understanding of middleware/serverless options (e.g. Azure Functions) for more complex integrations

  • Experience integrating data via APIs, with an interest in emerging integration patterns such as MCP (Model Context Protocol) connectors

  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure SQL Database) and an understanding of data governance and access control principles

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, data cleaning, analysis, and process improvement

  • Experience using AI tools to build automation and reporting capability, including configuring or building AI/knowledge agents

  • Working knowledge of Xero Practice Manager (XPM) or similar practice management systems

  • Experience maintaining and building out an intranet or SharePoint site (structure, content, permissions, embedding tools/dashboards)
