Job Summary

The Business Unit Manager (BUM) is accountable for Mason Business Unit results, including P&L, Bookings, Sales, EBITDA, annual plan execution, and year-over-year value growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, this forward, customer-facing role focuses on customer relations, Business Unit Bookings, contract review and negotiations, value-based pricing and new business development. The scope includes leadership of a cross-functional Business Unit Team (Sales, Operations, Engineering and Quality) and serves as a key development role for future senior management positions.
Primary Responsibilities

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
Achieve Business Unit Bookings, Sales and EBITDA objectives, with ownership of P&L results and annual plan performance.
Drive consistent value creation through value-based pricing, profitable new business and productivity initiatives.
Develop and execute the Business Unit strategy and comprehensive annual plan to deliver year-over-year growth.
Lead a cross-functional Business Unit Team across Sales, Operations, Engineering and Quality, with clear priorities and accountability.
Implement initiatives that improve team responsiveness to customer and business needs.
Develop and present Quarterly Business Reviews, Business Unit metrics and action plans to executive management.
Develop positive customer relationships through regular customer-facing activity, customer meetings and sales calls.
Own contract review and negotiations, including risk, opportunity and alignment with Business Unit objectives.
Develop sales and marketing plans, proposals and customer strategies that generate profitable new business.
Oversee quoting and cost estimating to ensure cost accuracy, appropriate pricing and profitable program economics.
Prioritize engineering and operational activities to meet customer needs, cost goals, quality expectations and Business Unit goals.
Coordinate new business activities between the customer and Mason functional teams from opportunity capture through execution.
Develop a performance-oriented work environment with high accountability, collective ownership and a bias for action.
Travel for on-site customer visits 30%-40%.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Desired Characteristics:
Bachelor's degree required; technical degree preferred. MBA preferred. Five or more years of progressive experience in Sales, Operations, Finance and/or Engineering required; aerospace, defense or industrial manufacturing experience preferred. Experience leading direct reports and/or cross-functional teams preferred.
Must be a self-starter who excels in an entrepreneurial ownership culture. Results-oriented, data-driven and action-biased, with strong business acumen, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, open and honest communication, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple programs to maximize value creation. Leads by example, drives short- and long-term performance and builds a team with high accountability.
Pay Range is $110,000 to $140,000 per annum
