JOB SUMMARY: Chatsworth Products (CPI) is seeking a driven Buyer to support the efficient procurement of materials and services that fuel our operations. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and trusted suppliers to manage purchase orders, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality materials. The Buyer plays an important role in maintaining cost effectiveness, supplier relationships, and operational continuity while contributing to CPI’s commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Independently analyzes demand, decides quantity to buy and negotiates purchases of inventory materials up to $25k per MRP.
- Places PO’s for inventory and non-inventory items and follows up as required to assure an adequate material supply.
- Ensures an uninterrupted supply of material while maximizing inventory turns.
- Resolves quality and delivery problems.
- Sources new items with new and existing suppliers.
- Identifies potential suppliers and qualify as required.
- Identifies cost reduction opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiation, and design changes. Implements as feasible.
- Evaluates suppliers and provides feedback to improve performance, especially in the areas of lead time, on-time delivery, delivered cost, terms, and quality.
- Develops and maintains long term relationships with key suppliers such that we are viewed as an excellent customer worthy of preferential treatment.
- Develops a sense of part ownership that includes concern for inventory accuracy and inventory obsolescence and a feel for potential problems.
- Conducts moderately difficult analytical studies and make recommendations from them.
