Job Title: FMCG Buyer

About the Opportunity

Osprey International is hiring on behalf its client in Qatar, for an experienced FMCG Buyer. The organization is looking for a candidate with hands-on experience in FMCG buying within a GCC hypermarket or supermarket environment.

The ideal candidate should have experience managing multiple product categories, including Grocery/Food, Non-Food, and Health & Beauty, along with strong knowledge of supplier coordination, merchandising, promotional planning, and flyer management.

Position Summary

The FMCG Buyer will be responsible for managing purchasing activities across assigned product categories, identifying and coordinating with suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, monitoring product performance, and ensuring product availability at competitive prices.

The role requires practical experience in hypermarket or supermarket buying, supplier relationship management, promotional campaign planning, and coordination of marketing flyers to support sales and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage FMCG buying activities across Grocery/Food, Non-Food, and Health & Beauty categories.
• Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with suppliers, distributors, and vendors.
• Negotiate product pricing, payment terms, promotional offers, and commercial agreements.
• Monitor stock availability, inventory levels, and product replenishment requirements.
• Plan and coordinate promotional campaigns, seasonal offers, and special discounts.
• Handle promotional flyer planning, product selection, pricing, and supplier coordination.
• Analyse sales trends, market demand, and category performance to support buying decisions.
• Ensure competitive pricing, appropriate product assortment, and product availability.
• Coordinate with merchandising, marketing, warehouse, and store operations teams.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Monitor product movement and recommend improvements to category performance.
• Ensure timely purchasing and delivery of products in line with business requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Relevant certifications in Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant experience as an FMCG Buyer or in a similar buying position is mandatory.
• Previous GCC work experience in a hypermarket or supermarket is mandatory.
• Experience handling Grocery/Food, Non-Food, and Health & Beauty categories is essential.
• Hands-on experience in supplier coordination, promotional planning, and flyer management is required.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of FMCG buying and procurement processes.
• Good understanding of hypermarket and supermarket operations.
• Experience in supplier sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management.
• Knowledge of Grocery/Food, Non-Food, and Health & Beauty product categories.
• Practical experience in promotional planning and flyer management.
• Understanding of merchandising, pricing strategies, and product assortment.
• Ability to analyse sales trends and category performance.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers and internal departments.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and purchasing or inventory management systems is preferred.

Working Hours

• 8 hours of normal duty per day.
• Additional 3 hours of overtime as advised by the client, with payment included in other allowances.

• Candidates must be ready to travel to Qatar upon selection and completion of visa formalities.
