Buyer II (Procurement | Manufacturing | Oil & Gas)
Job Purpose:
The Buyer position requires a knowledge of basic purchasing functions. The Buyer must be able to apply this knowledge when reviewing requisitions for materials and/or equipment purchases to find the best purchasing opportunity for Industries with respect to cost, quality and delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure optimal flow of material from suppliers to manufacturing/distribution facilities in alignment with the operations plan
• Work with cross functional teams to identify critical materials and/or equipment
• Review requisitions for material and equipment to determine best vendor based on price, delivery, and quality with minimal supervision
• Develop bid lists and bid packages for the purchase of materials and equipment
• Evaluate vendor quotations to ensure price, quality, and delivery
• Provide procurement recommendations of vendor selections obtained through the evaluation of vendor quotations and other comparative analysis
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of commodities being purchased
• Demonstrate very good knowledge of MRP planning and inventory management principles
• Ability to evaluate purchase lot size economics to optimize inventory levels while minimizing stock outs and excess inventory
• Implement effective strategy for various direct material categories that reduce cost, secure supply, support inventory levels and minimize supply chain disruptions
• Monitor purchase price variance proactively and take steps to mitigate cost inflation
• Support Sourcing Category Manager by identifying opportunities for alternate sources or cost reduction exercise
• Understand standard terms and conditions for purchases and how they protect the company from risks and liabilities with minimal supervision
• Establish compliance reviews to ensure internal processes and suppliers meet or exceed and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Apply standard processes while meeting business requirements in accordance with Procurement’s policies and procedures with minimal supervision

Requirements
Required Education & Preferred Certifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain
• At least 3 years of experience in purchasing /procurement is required
• Experience in one or more of the following categories desirable – Metals, Machining, MRO, Indirect Services
Certificates & Licenses
• APICS or ISM certifications highly desirable
• Lean/Six Sigma - Preferred

• Familiar with industry related commodities
• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of building strong relationships with internal customers, as well as vendors
• Strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills
• Able to work in a team and take direction from management or senior level peers
• Strong communication (written and oral) and organization skills
• Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees and the general public
• Proficient in Microsoft applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Experience with data analytical tools like Power BI, Tableau, Advanced Excel
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (JDE Preferred)
