Summary
Procures industrial components like valves and tubing, negotiates with suppliers, and manages the full procurement cycle for a precision engineering manufacturer in Singapore.
Job Responsibilities
- Source and procure mechanical, fabricated, machined, welding, gas system, vacuum, fittings, valves, tubing, and other industrial components.
- Manage the full procurement cycle including RFQ, quotation evaluation, price negotiation, purchase order issuance, delivery follow-up, and supplier performance monitoring.
- Develop and maintain reliable supplier base to support production, maintenance, and project activities.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change activities by identifying qualified suppliers and ensuring timely material readiness.
- Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to review material specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, lead time, payment terms, and commercial agreements to achieve cost savings and supply continuity.
- Monitor material shortages and coordinate recovery plans to minimize operational impact.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and support supplier quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier databases, and procurement documentation in theERP system.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to support purchasing strategies.
- Provide regular updates to the Engineering Director on sourcing status, supplier performance, cost-saving initiatives, and delivery commitments.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant purchasing or sourcing experience in manufacturing, precision engineering, industrial equipment, or related industries.
- Familiar with sourcing mechanical parts, fabrication items, welding consumables, gas system components, fittings, valves, tubing, and industrial hardware.
- Possess strong supplier sourcing and negotiation skills with established industry resources and contacts.
- Able to interpret basic engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and accountability in supporting a newly established welding operation.
