Buyer Pharmacy
Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, performs all aspects of purchasing including the procurement of pharmaceutical and departmental supplies, administrative duties related to the purchasing function, provides recommendations for cost-saving measures, maintains invoices, department charges, borrow and loans and pharmaceutical transfers. Performs other duties as required by the Director of Pharmacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.

Responsible for the cost effective inventory management of pharmaceuticals and supplies, including identification and reporting of inventory requirements and economical reorder quantities to maintain appropriate stock levels.

Reviews received order and restocks carousel/shelves.

Rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date.

Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs.

Issues purchase orders to primary or alternate suppliers via on-line computer or manual procedures.

Verifies delivery, reconciles cost/quantity differences and processes invoices for payment.

Maintains vendor item compliance required by group purchasing contracts.

Administers hospital purchase requisitions which includes vendor selection, purchasing, dispensing and billing procedures.

Confers with sale representatives regarding new contracts and product availability.

Executes drug return program to vendor for invoice credit.

Performs drug recall activities.

Researches availability of special pharmaceutical requests.

Manages e-Recovery program in collaboration with Director of Pharmacy and Patient Access.

Performs daily DTAR.

Prepare annual inventory report and assist inventory team as needed. Review inventory reports with Director of Pharmacy.

Provide monthly purchase history report to Director of Pharmacy and other reports as requested.

Schedule appointments for Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Director of Pharmacy and Clinical Manager.

Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relation standards in all activities.

Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.

Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.

Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
