Position Summary

Davcor Aviation Services is seeking a CAD & CNC Production Design Specialist to support design, fabrication, and production activities at our corporate office.

This position will be responsible for creating and modifying 3D CAD models, converting three-dimensional designs into accurate 2D production layouts, preparing digital files for fabrication, and supporting CNC hot wire operations.

The ideal candidate is technically minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through the entire process of taking a digital design and preparing it for production. This individual should also be able to identify workflow challenges, troubleshoot issues, and help develop more efficient methods for completing production work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain 3D CAD models and assemblies based on project requirements

  • Convert 3D designs into accurate 2D layouts for fabrication and production

  • Generate DXF files, vector paths, and other production-ready digital files

  • Review drawings, dimensions, and specifications to ensure accuracy prior to production

  • Support the programming and operation of CNC hot wire equipment

  • Troubleshoot issues involving CAD files, CNC preparation, and production workflows

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time

  • Assist with prototype development and fabrication activities as needed

  • Work with operations, production, and other internal team members to support project requirements

  • Maintain organized CAD files, revisions, drawings, and related technical documentation

  • Verify that completed files meet dimensional and quality requirements

  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and operational standards

Qualifications

  • Experience converting 3D models into accurate 2D production or manufacturing layouts

  • Experience creating or extracting vector paths and generating DXF files

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and specifications

  • Strong computer and technical problem-solving skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot design-to-production workflow issues

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Ability to organize and maintain technical files and documentation

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and changing priorities

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple departments

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hot wire CNC experience

  • Experience working within a manufacturing, fabrication, aerospace, industrial design, or similar production environment

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes

  • Experience with workflow or process improvement

  • Familiarity with CNC workflow automation

  • Aviation or aerospace industry experience

  • Experience supporting prototype development or production

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction in a production or fabrication environment

  • Regular use of computers, CAD software, and related technical equipment

  • May require periods of standing, walking, bending, or working around production equipment

  • Must be able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while completing technical and computer-based work for extended periods

  • Must follow all required safety procedures when working in or around manufacturing and fabrication equipment
