CAD Manager
CAD Manager
You'll be working with the engineering team.
This team runs on coffee and an infectious passion for building products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack — the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) — together unlock 15-minute rapid charging.
Our philosophy: Break. Believe. Build.
- Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.
- Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.
- Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.
Role Description
As CAD Manager in Mechanical Engineering, you'll lead the CAD team behind the e^pump and e^pack. You'll own CAD and drawing quality, Teamcenter and ERP data, project BOMs, and release timelines — turning Design Engineering intent into production-ready data.
What you will do
- Lead the CAD team delivering concepts, 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Own CAD, drawing and engineering data quality across programmes.
- Own Teamcenter, ERP part data and all project BOMs, kept in sync.
- Drive release timelines so no build waits on engineering data.
Responsibilities
- Defining and enforcing CAD hygiene standards — modelling practice, part and assembly structure, naming and numbering, templates, and clean, lightweight models.
- Defining and enforcing drawing hygiene standards — title blocks, GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerances, callouts and revision tables — and running drawing checks before release.
- Managing engineering data in ERP — part masters, make/buy, and PLM-to-ERP BOM transfer — with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality.
- Hiring the right candidate for CAD development at Exponent
- Managing the team’s daily tasks and performance
- Owning all project EBOMs with full traceability through every design change.
- Continuously improving the CAD and release process through templates, checklists, standard-part libraries, training and audits.
The ideal candidate requires
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related.
- 8+ years in mechanical design and data management;
- Experience of leading a CAD team.
- Automotive, EV or electro-mechanical experience (strongly preferred).
- Hands-on SolidWorks; GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance stack-ups, DFM/DFA.
- Teamcenter or similar PLM, including change management and release workflows.
- ERP, BOM structuring, part numbering and configuration management.
- Zero tolerance for poor data quality.
What matters
Quality of work, problem-solving, dissatisfaction with mediocrity, and resilience after failure.
