CAE Automation Engineer_(SA2115)

  • A primary focus will be on designing, writing, enhancing, and maintaining automated test scripts using languages like Python or similar. You'll help build a robust regression test suite for products
  • Architect and implement automated tests specifically targeting challenging user interface and graphics-intensive test cases. You'll leverage tools like Python, Perl, Eggplant or similar, pushing the boundaries of what's automatable.
  • Create programs or scripts that automate test cases from real-world engineering functionalities like import/export, FE model creation, analysis setup, or post-processing tasks.
  • Proactively translate existing manual test cases into efficient automated scripts, ensuring comprehensive coverage, improved efficiency, and faster feedback cycles. You'll design tests that effectively validate new features and existing functionality.
  • Develop and prepare model files necessary to support and validate automated test functions within products.
  • Update the current suite of automated tests to align with the latest product releases and add new automated tests for functional areas that currently lack automation.
  • Work closely with senior QA engineers and software developers, actively contributing to discussions on test strategy, automation architecture, and the integration of automated tests into our continuous integration pipelines.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field with hands-on software development experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in test automation within Software Quality Engineering, with a strong portfolio of automation projects.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Perl and experience with building a web application.
    Experience with version control systems like Git, Gitlab or GitHub.
  • Expertise in Python and Django (or Django REST Framework).
  • Strong mastery of OOP design patterns, clean code, and API design.
  • Experience with relational databases, specifically Postgres and MySQL.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and managing CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Desired experience with VS Code and AI development tools like Copilot and Claude.
  • Experience with developing regression, QA automation workflows and high-performance computing (HPC) workflows.
  • Exposure or experience with software development for desktop simulations products like Hyperworks, and/or FEA solver tools (e.g. OptiStruct, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, RADIOSS etc.)
  • Hands-on automation experience with tools like Eggplant or similar.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, can-do attitude with strong logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities; thrives as a positive and collaborative team player, shows resilience in challenging situations, and brings innovative, out-of-the-box thinking to drive solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

These "nice-to-haves" will help you stand out:

  • Familiarity with various operating systems, including Windows and UNIX/Linux.
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis concept either through coursework or projects. Familiarity with any CAE software is a plus.
