This role applies metrology principles to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with applicable quality and technical standards, including NQA-1, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 9001:2015, and ANSI/NCSL Z540.3. The position supports internal teams and customers by delivering timely, accurate calibration and repair services, maintaining documentation and traceability to NIST, and upholding lab environment and quality system requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Calibration, Verification & Metrology Execution:

· Perform calibrations and verifications on a broad range of M&TE, including (as qualified): electrical test equipment, temperature, pressure, hipots, relay test sets, high current test sets, and related industrial test equipment.

· Use appropriate lab standards and instruments (e.g., Fluke 550xA, 5720A, multimeters, oscilloscopes, deadweight testers) and follow documented methods and specifications.

· Ensure measurement traceability, correct application of tolerances, and proper handling of standards and accessories.

2. Troubleshooting, Repair & Rework:

· Diagnose failures at the component and assembly level; perform repair, rework, and functional testing, including soldering and board-level repair where required.

· Troubleshoot equipment with limited documentation or incomplete manufacturer data; identify failure modes and repair paths efficiently.

· Conduct incoming inspections to verify accessories, documentation, and customer-reported symptoms/malfunctions.

3. Documentation, Systems & Traceability:

· Prepare, review, and maintain calibration and repair documentation in designated systems (e.g., METTEAM/METCAL or equivalent).

· Maintain complete records supporting ISO/IEC 17025 expectations, including as applicable: as-found/as-left results, traceability, and documented repair actions.

· Support uncertainty-related documentation as assigned (e.g., uncertainty inputs, traceability chains, method references).

4. Quality System & Standards Compliance:

· Execute work in alignment with NQA-1, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ISO 9001:2015, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 and internal procedures.

· Support internal and external audit readiness by maintaining records, following controlled procedures, and helping address corrective actions as assigned.

· Balance quality requirements with on-time delivery expectations; escalate risks to quality or schedule appropriately.

5. Lab Operations & Continuous Improvement:

· Monitor and help maintain lab environmental and workspace conditions suitable for metrology and calibration work.

· Identify parts, consumables, and tools needed to support inventory levels and routine repairs; communicate needs to the Lab Manager.

· Assist in developing/improving methods, processes, and procedures to increase consistency, accuracy, and throughput.

6. Team Coverage & Cross-Training:

· Provide backup coverage for other lab functions during absences; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn additional calibration/repair disciplines.

7. Additional Responsibilities:

· Perform other related duties as assigned to support business needs.

· Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and contribute to team-wide learning and growth.
