Calibration Technician (Lab-based)
Job Summary
The Laboratory Equipment Technician will be responsible for calibrating, maintaining, and repairing laboratory testing and measuring equipment. The position is primarily based in the company’s laboratory and focuses on ensuring equipment accuracy, reliability, and compliance with established calibration and maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities
Perform calibration of laboratory testing and measuring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Maintain accurate calibration records and prepare calibration reports and certificates.
Diagnose equipment malfunctions by referring to technical drawings, maintenance manuals, and parts breakdown diagrams.
Disassemble equipment and repair or replace defective components as required.
Verify equipment functionality and accuracy after calibration or repair work.
Maintain proper handling, storage, and identification of equipment undergoing calibration or maintenance.
Monitor spare parts, tools, and consumable inventory and coordinate purchase requests when necessary.
Ensure the laboratory and work areas are kept clean, safe, and properly organized.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required to support laboratory operations.
Requirements
ITE, NITEC, Higher NITEC, or Diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Candidates with qualifications in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or Precision Engineering are preferred.
Prior experience in equipment calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, or laboratory operations would be an advantage.
Able to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and diagrams.
Comfortable using basic testing, measuring, and hand tools.
Detail-oriented with good documentation and record-keeping skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a technical team.
