Position Summary

The Camp Program Coordinator supports the Camp Director in overseeing daily camp operations and programming, including Resident Camp, Family Camp, and other youth and family programs. This role manages multiple program areas, supervises staff, ensures camper safety, and maintains program quality. Responsibilities include staff training, program planning, activity facilitation, and coordination of resources and logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Delivery

• Oversee and deliver engaging, safe, and inclusive camp programs and activities such as archery, canoeing, ropes, hiking, and team-building.
• Plan and coordinate camp-wide events that meet the needs of various age groups and participants.
• Evaluate and improve programs to enhance participation, accessibility, and quality. Staff Supervision and DevelopmentSupervise and mentor program and camp staff, providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Lead or assist in staff training focused on leadership, camper engagement, and conflict resolution.
• Conduct regular team meetings to share updates, gather feedback, and support collaboration.

Camper and Community Support

• · Serve as a point of contact for staff, parents, and community partners.
• · Address camper or staff concerns promptly and constructively.
• Promote a positive and inclusive camp culture through respectful communication and role modeling.

Operations and Administration

• · Manage program logistics, equipment, and supplies.
• · Oversee assigned budgets and ensure responsible use of resources.
• Support administrative tasks related to scheduling, reporting, and program coordination.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies following established safety protocols.

Compliance and Safety

• · Ensure all programs follow YMCA, ACA and organizational safety standards.
• · Maintain program areas and equipment to ensure safe and appropriate use.
• · Keep certifications current and ensure staff meet required training standards.

Qualifications

• · Minimum 21 years oldr.
• · 2 + years of experience working with youth.
• · 1+ years of experience working in a resident camp setting.
• · Creativity and expertise in areas such as arts, culture, health, fitness, or the outdoors.
• · Advanced proficiency in supervising and mentoring youth and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse ages, backgrounds, and experiences.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, including active listening, empathy, and accountability.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role is primarily outdoors, requiring physical stamina, mobility, and the ability to lift equipment, lead activities, and assist campers as needed. Extended periods of standing, walking, and participation in physical activities are expected. Flexibility is required for long, variable hours, including overnight shifts. Meals and lodging are provided for the duration of the summer camp program.
