We are moving into New York City and this is your chance to get in on the ground floor, own your territory block by block, and build something real in the most exciting cannabis market in the country.
What You'll Do
This is a hunter role. You will be assigned a territory of approximately 100 licensed dispensary accounts across New York City. Your job is to get into dispensaries that aren’t carrying Starbase, earn the relationship, and close the business — then grow it. NYC is a different kind of market: the buyers are sharp, the competition is everywhere, and the pace is relentless. We’re looking for someone who is energized by that — someone with real cannabis knowledge, genuine hustle, and the drive to win on the shelf in one of the most competitive retail environments in the world. If you’re a grinder who loves the plant and thrives in the city, this role was built for you.
Core Responsibilities:
- Own and aggressively work an assigned territory of ~100 licensed retail dispensary accounts across New York City
- Prospect, cold call, and walk in to accounts that are not yet carrying Starbase products — convert them
- Present and sell the full Starbase product lineup with deep product knowledge and compelling storytelling rooted in real cannabis expertise
- Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, GMs, and ownership at each account across the five boroughs
- Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
- Manage the full sales cycle from first contact through order placement and follow-up
- Execute shelf placement, merchandising, and display standards at every account visit
- Identify and report on competitive activity, pricing trends, new market entrants, and retail intelligence specific to the NYC cannabis landscape
- Coordinate with the operations and logistics team to ensure accurate, on-time order fulfillment
- Participate in launches, trade events, activations, and market pushes across the city as needed
- Maintain accurate records of all account activity, pipeline, and sales data using HubSpot
- Note: This role does not involve transporting cannabis product. All product distribution is handled through licensed distribution channels.
What We're Looking For
- Must be 21 or older and legally eligible to work in the cannabis industry in New York
- 2+ years of proven B2B or field sales experience — cannabis, CPG, beverage, or a related industry strongly preferred
- Track record of hitting and exceeding sales quotas
- A true hunter: self-motivated, competitive, and energized by prospecting and closing
- Genuine knowledge of and passion for cannabis — you understand the products, the culture, and what moves in dispensaries
- Strong communicator with the professional presence and interpersonal edge required to build trust quickly in a fast-moving city
- Highly organized and capable of managing a large, dense urban account base independently
- NYC-native navigation skills — you know how to move through the five boroughs efficiently and reliably; personal vehicle is a plus but not required
- Comfortable working flexible hours including evenings and weekends — because this is New York
- Proficiency with CRM tools, basic reporting, and standard sales tracking practices
Bonus If You…
- Existing relationships at licensed dispensaries anywhere in the five boroughs
- Deep cannabis knowledge — terpenes, formats, brands, and what’s actually moving at retail in New York City
- Experience with dispensary operations, wholesale purchasing, or retail account management
- Active in the NYC cannabis scene — events, community, culture
- Comfortable capturing authentic field content or supporting brand activations in-store
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply — language is a real advantage in this market
- Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe, or similar tools
What You'll Get
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Uncapped performance-based commission structure
- Mileage and travel reimbursement per Starbase Company policy
- Performance bonuses tied to territory growth and account acquisition
- Paid Time Off per Starbase PTO policy
- A team that moves fast, values results, and rewards people who deliver
