Capability Lead, Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS)
Summary
Leads the design, integration, and delivery of navigation systems for Canada's River Class Destroyer fleet, coordinating engineering teams, subcontractors, and naval stakeholders.
We are seeking an experienced IBNS Capability Lead to manage the full lifecycle of Integrated Bridge Navigation System capabilities for the River Class Destroyer (RCD) Program. Acting as the technical authority, you will provide leadership across design, integration, testing, stakeholder engagement, and subcontractor management to ensure successful delivery and acceptance of this critical ship capability.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to one of Canada's most significant naval shipbuilding programs and help shape the future of the River Class Destroyer fleet.
- Lead all IBNS-related activities, providing technical and program oversight to support key program milestones.
- Manage the IBNS engineering team and associated engineering processes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate technical and program risks related to IBNS capabilities.
- Serve as the primary interface with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), subcontractors, and cross-functional program teams.
- Support production, integration, testing, trials, and final acceptance activities.
- Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and oversee subcontractor performance.
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or equivalent.
- Experience serving as a Technical Authority for ship systems, shipyard operations, or engineering design functions.
- Strong knowledge of maritime Combat Systems, with expertise in navigation systems.
- Direct experience in ship design, construction, systems integration, or a related discipline.
- Ability to analyze complex system designs, work within 3D ship models and simulations, and develop technical documentation, specifications, presentations, and reports.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing and managing subcontractor Statements of Work.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
