Capital Solutions Senior Analyst

Role Overview

The Capital Solutions Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the development and execution of OAK Global's outward reinsurance strategy. Working within the Capital Solutions team and reporting to the Head of Capital Solutions, the role combines reinsurance market engagement, strategic analysis and portfolio management activities to support the design, placement and ongoing management of OAK's reinsurance programme.


Through close collaboration with Underwriting, Portfolio Analytics, Actuarial and Finance & Operations teams, the role provides insight into portfolio performance and management and net risk positions to inform reinsurance purchasing decisions and broader risk transfer strategy.

The role includes maintaining strong relationships with brokers and reinsurers throughout the year, supporting market engagement, renewal planning, programme optimisation and the identification of innovative risk transfer solutions. The position also contributes to the development of OAK's Portfolio Management Framework (PMF), ensuring portfolio analytics and defined risk tolerances are effectively supported by reinsurance strategy and execution.


This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical reinsurance knowledge, commercial awareness and analytical capability, together with the ability to influence decision-making and build effective relationships both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

Outward Reinsurance & Ceded Strategy

  • Support the development and execution of OAK's outward reinsurance strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, underwriting strategy and risk
  • Evaluate proportional, non-proportional and structured reinsurance solutions, providing recommendations on programme design, retention strategies and risk transfer
  • Support the design, optimisation and placement of OAK's reinsurance
  • Work with actuarial, portfolio analytics and capital modelling to assess the effectiveness of existing reinsurance arrangements and identify opportunities to improve portfolio outcomes, earnings stability and risk transfer efficiency, driving outperformance for OAK’s underwriting capital investors.
  • Develop analytics and recommendations to support future reinsurance purchasing decisions and programme optimisation.
  • Support annual renewal activities, including programme analysis, submission preparation, market presentations and placement negotiations.
  • Monitor reinsurance market conditions, pricing trends, capacity developments and emerging solutions to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with brokers and reinsurers to explore innovative risk transfer solutions and strategic market opportunities.
  • Prepare and present reinsurance analyses, recommendations and market updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums.

Broker & Reinsurer Market Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reinsurance brokers, reinsurers and market participants.
  • Act as a key point of contact for broker and reinsurer engagement activities throughout the year.
  • Coordinate and participate in reinsurer meetings, portfolio reviews, market presentations, roadshows and renewal discussions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of OAK's market profile and reinsurer relationships.
  • Gather and assess market intelligence, including pricing, capacity and competitor developments, translating insights into actionable
  • Work closely with brokers and reinsurers to ensure OAK remains informed of market developments and emerging risk transfer opportunities.

Portfolio Management Support

  • Support the ongoing development and enhancement of OAK's Portfolio Management Framework (PMF).
  • Work closely with Portfolio Analytics to assess portfolio performance, risk concentrations, accumulations and diversification across the business.
  • Conduct portfolio assessments, scenario analysis and stress testing to support risk transfer decisions and business planning.
  • Contribute to the development of portfolio reporting, governance processes and performance


Strategic Analysis & Business Support

  • Work with Reinsurance Operations & Technical Manager, Portfolio Analytics and Data Science & Innovation to develop and maintain analytical tools, models and reporting to support portfolio and reinsurance decision-making.
  • Support strategic initiatives relating to portfolio optimisation, risk transfer and business
  • Produce high-quality reports, presentations and recommendations for senior management, committees and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continued development of OAK's outward reinsurance and portfolio management capabilities, frameworks and operating models.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of the global reinsurance and retrocession
  • Experience within reinsurance, portfolio management, exposure management, underwriting, actuarial or a related analytical discipline.
  • Strong understanding of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance structures and their application within specialty insurance portfolios.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into commercial recommendations.
  • Experience working with portfolio, underwriting or exposure data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance risk, growth and profitability considerations.
  • Advanced technology, including Excel, skills and experience producing management information and analytical reporting.
