In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Cardiovascular Ultrasound Shift Coordinator is responsible for managing and supervising activities in an assigned Cardiac Ultrasound area, on a specific shift. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

  1. Coordinates all aspects of patient care.
  2. Assists Physician with TEE
  3. Maintains clinical competency.
  4. Provides input for annual appraisal of staff in a timely, accurate and fair manner.
  5. Assists with study reviews/Audits.
  6. With appropriate education, training and validation, uses proper technique for intravenous line insertion, administers Definity and intravenous line discontinuation according to the facility protocol.
  7. Participates in hospital-wide and unit activities.
  8. Assists with interviewing and hiring process as requested.
  9. Coordinates new employee orientation/education/on-the-job training.
  10. Coordinates/assists with the rotation of diagnostic imaging students (Radiology, Ultrasound, etc.) in the Cardiovascular Lab.
  11. Assists with scheduling/staffing issues as requested.
  12. Assists with patient issues/concerns as required.
  13. Assists with disciplinary action when requested.
  14. Serves as resource person to other staff.
  15. 75% attendance at monthly department meetings (9/year for Cardio (Echo) Lab and 9/year for Vascular Lab).
  16. Obtains required assessments and collects needed data.
  17. Contributes to the development of a plan of care.
  18. Serves in Team Leader role.
  19. Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment with Manager/Director oversight.
  20. Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance with Manager/Director oversight.
  21. Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties.
  22. Utilizes A.I.D.E.T. with all patient interactions.
  23. Assigned and assist as super user for completion of incident report.
  24. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
