Care Assistant
Description
A Little About the Client
The client is a lovely young man who absolutely adores spending time with his family. Family means everything to him, and he enjoys being surrounded by the people he loves.
One of the client's favourite things to do is snuggle up on the sofa and watch his favourite films and cartoons. Whether it's enjoying a familiar film, listening to music or simply relaxing with someone by his side, these little moments are incredibly special to him.
The client also enjoys interaction, conversation and watching the world go by. He communicates through hand signals to express simple choices, so taking the time to understand his individual way of communicating is an important part of building a trusting relationship with him.
We are looking for someone who will take the time to get to know the client, understand his likes and dislikes, and bring kindness, patience and warmth into his daily routine.
A Family Who Will Make You Feel at Home
One of the things that makes this care package so special is the client's wonderful family.
The client is surrounded by an incredibly loving, welcoming and supportive family who are actively involved in his care and wellbeing.
They understand the importance of having a consistent, compassionate care team and will always be there to offer guidance, reassurance and support whenever needed.
This is a home where care professionals are genuinely appreciated and made to feel welcome. The family are keen to build positive, lasting relationships with the people supporting the client, and you will soon feel like an extended part of the family.
What You'll Be Doing
You will provide dedicated 1:1 care during night shifts, ensuring the client remains safe, comfortable and supported throughout the night.
The client lives with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, asthma and a dual sensory impairment, alongside other complex physical health needs and limited mobility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing compassionate, person-centred care tailored to the client's individual needs.
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with the client and his family.
- Recognising and responding to the client's hand signals, helping him communicate his choices and preferences.
- Supporting the client's comfort, wellbeing and individual routines.
- Providing daily eye care in accordance with his care plan.
- Monitoring and responding appropriately to his complex health needs.
- Following all clinical care plans, procedures and emergency protocols.
- Creating a calm, reassuring and comfortable environment throughout the night.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who treats the client with dignity, kindness and respect, recognising that the little things can make the biggest difference.
