At RMIT University, we believe in fostering a sense of community among our students. RMIT’s Career Connect, is a careers hub designed to provide support and guidance. Allowing students to seek help finding and applying for jobs, gain career guidance, have their resume reviewed, prepare for interviews and much more to help them achieve their career goals.

As a Career Connect Assistant, you will contribute to the supportive, and inclusive atmosphere on campus and play a crucial role in helping your peers navigate their career journey.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a student seeking casual employment throughout the semester. As a Career Connect Assistant, you'll be part of a dynamic team, working both at Career Connect and various university events. You will be responsible for providing student to student assistance for the RMIT Career Connect services. While most shifts will be at the city campus, you may also get the chance to engage with the Bundoora and Brunswick campuses.

Please note: There is no guaranteed hours per week in this role, shifts will be rostered on a casual as needed basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate seamlessly with other Career Connect team members
  • Provide valuable career resources and support to fellow students
  • Deliver positive, helpful, and proactive customer service
  • Triage students to appropriate services and tools to meet their needs.
  • Accurately recording student interactions
  • Stay informed about the latest career resources and information
  • Assist with accessing RMIT Career Centre services
  • Respond to online student enquires and managing the Career Connect inbox.
  • Contribute suggestions and feedback for continuous improvement
  • Support senior team members and other Careers staff as needed
  • Deliver pre-prepared workshops to students on career skills
  • Attend training sessions and pre-event briefings

Key Requirements Essential

  • Excellent customer service skills, including effective communication
  • Ability to work in a team and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible availability to accommodate varying shifts
  • Proficiency in using PCs and Microsoft Office software
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • To be eligible for this role, you must have 12 months or more of study to complete at RMIT University.

Key Requirements Desirable

  • Volunteering experience
  • Have attended a Career Connect session or service during your studies at RMIT
  • Enthusiastic about personal learning goals and contributing to team success
