Carpenter Apprentice
Description
Interested in construction but not sure how to get started? Our Carpenter Apprenticeship Program is a chance to learn a skilled trade, gain hands-on experience, and earn a paycheck at the same time.
Our apprenticeship program is registered in Maryland and Washington, DC. You’ll learn both on the job and through classroom training — and we pay for the classroom portion of the program.
Most of your time will be spent working with our crews on commercial playground and recreation projects. You could be helping install playground equipment, shade structures, benches, site amenities, and other features that become part of parks, schools, and community spaces.
What You’ll Learn
You’ll work alongside experienced team members who will help you learn things like:
- Using hand and power tools
- Reading plans and understanding project layouts
- Measuring, leveling, assembling, and installing materials
- Installing commercial playground equipment and site amenities
- Basic concrete and construction techniques
- Jobsite safety
- How a construction project comes together from start to finish
No construction experience is necessary. If you enjoy working with your hands, being outside, and seeing what you accomplished at the end of the day, this could be a great way to start a career in the trades.
The Apprenticeship
You’ll earn $18.40 per hour while working and learning on the job. You’ll also complete classroom training as part of the registered apprenticeship program, with the cost of that training paid by the company.
As you gain experience, you’ll have the opportunity to build your skills, take on new responsibilities, and continue growing in the construction field.
Benefits
In addition to your hourly pay and training, we offer:
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Paid sick leave
- Paid holidays
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Opportunities for continued training and advancement
