About the Role:

The Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for customers, directly impacting overall customer satisfaction and store operations. This position requires handling cash transactions accurately, managing the cash register, and providing friendly and professional customer service. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and organization in the checkout area, contributing to a welcoming shopping environment. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the dynamic needs of the business, including working various shifts and weekends. Ultimately, the Cashier supports the store’s operational success by combining technical skills with excellent interpersonal communication and physical stamina.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience in cashiering or retail customer service.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry heavy items safely.
• Strong communication skills and phone etiquette.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash registers.
• Familiarity with janitorial duties and maintaining store cleanliness.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
• Customer service training or certification.

Responsibilities:

• Operate the cash register to process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment while ensuring proper change is given.
• Provide courteous and helpful customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the checkout area, including performing janitorial duties as needed.
• Assist with lifting and carrying heavy items to support stock replenishment and customer needs.
• Answer phone calls professionally, directing inquiries or taking messages as appropriate.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to cash handling and customer interactions.
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet business demands.
