Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.
About the Role
Tameside Supported Housing Service (SHS) is a 24-hour mental health and community-based service working to a recovery model. We provide a range of flexible support options, including outreach, tenancy support, peer support, and supported housing, to adults aged 18 and over who are on their journey to recovery and independence.
One of our key services is a 24/7 supported housing service for women, offering self-contained flats alongside shared communal areas. Our focus is on empowering women in their recovery journey, helping them build confidence, develop essential life skills, and move towards independent living.
As a Casual Recovery Worker, you will provide flexible, person-centred support to people using the service, working on a relief basis to cover shifts as required. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible work while making a positive difference in people’s lives.
What You’ll Do

Maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills
Build confidence and resilience through personalised support planning
Develop practical skills such as budgeting, cooking, and household management
Access work, education, volunteering, and leisure opportunities within the community
You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring each individual receives tailored, compassionate support that promotes recovery, wellbeing, and independence.
To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need
No previous experience is required full training will be provided. More important is your empathy, compassion, and enthusiasm for supporting others to live fulfilling lives.
We welcome applications from people with an understanding of mental health issues or lived experience of recovery. You’ll need to be flexible and comfortable working shifts across a 24-hour service, including evenings, weekends, waking nights, and bank holidays on a casual basis as required.
