CAT Modeling Analyst
Summary
The CAT Modeling Analyst manages and analyzes catastrophe exposure data to quantify natural catastrophe risk for insurance and reinsurance purposes. The role involves using SQL, Excel, and specialized catastrophe modeling software to validate data and assess risk.
The CAT Modeling Analyst’s primary role is to manage and analyze catastrophe exposure data across various lines of business. Responsibilities include understanding, cleansing, validating, and preparing CAT exposure data, applying insurance and reinsurance policy conditions, and conducting in-depth analysis of client exposure data against different perils. The CAT Modeling Analyst will utilize catastrophe modeling software to model and quantify natural catastrophe risk. Additionally, the analyst will collaborate with team members to incorporate reinsurance structures into modeling and exposure management, ensuring comprehensive risk assessment and management. The ideal candidate will have prior property catastrophe modeling experience, strong analytical and technical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Experience with casualty catastrophe modeling is a plus.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Two or more years of property catastrophe modeling experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Experience modeling natural catastrophe perils and analyzing catastrophe model output.
- Insurance and/or reinsurance experience and an understanding of underwriting concepts.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, and catastrophe modeling software; Verisk Touchstone experience is preferred.
- Experience with Excel automation, VBA, or other scripting/programming tools.
- Casualty catastrophe modeling experience is a plus.
