Category Specialist (Procurement & Supply Chain), 1 Year Contract Up $5K
Working Location: Near to Bugis MRT
Working Hours: 8.30AM to 5.30PM (Mon to Fri)
The Category Specialist supports regional procurement and category management activities for a portfolio of refinery and manufacturing operations across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The role provides analytical, sourcing, supplier management, and project coordination support to drive cost savings, operational efficiency, and procurement excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Category Management & Procurement
- Support development and execution of category and sourcing strategies.
- Conduct market research, supplier analysis, benchmarking, and spend analytics.
- Assist with sourcing, contracting, negotiations, and supplier management activities.
- Develop business cases and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Perform cost modelling, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and commercial evaluations.
- Support procurement for maintenance, operations, reliability, and capital projects.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with business stakeholders to align procurement strategies with operational objectives.
- Provide guidance on procurement processes, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with legal, risk, tax, technical, and operational teams.
- Support implementation of regional and global procurement initiatives.
Project & Network Coordination
- Coordinate procurement meetings, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Track project milestones, action items, and key initiatives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and performance metrics for stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across procurement teams and suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or related discipline.
- 2–3 years of procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management experience.
- Experience within Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, or related industries preferred.
- Knowledge of category management, sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and negotiation.
- Experience with spend analysis, TCO modelling, cost analysis, and procurement analytics.
- Familiarity with maintenance, engineering, project, or manufacturing-related procurement categories is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to drive improvements, influence stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of refinery, manufacturing, or industrial plant environments is a plus.
