Catering Business Development Assistant Manager
Job Purpose
Drive and grow catering revenue across multiple channels, including corporate sales, online platforms, inbound enquiries, and retail opportunities. This role focuses on building a sustainable catering and events business by actively generating sales, developing products, and maximising utilisation of existing assets (restaurants, bar, and distribution channels).
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
• Proactively identify and secure new catering opportunities (corporate offices, meetings, private events)
• Build a strong pipeline of recurring clients (corporate group purchase, office lunch, tea-time catering, meetings)
• Manage and convert inbound enquiries (email, website, walk-ins)
• Develop partnerships with corporate clients, event organisers, and vendors
• Own and achieve catering revenue targets
Online & Platform Sales
• Manage and grow sales from catering platforms (e.g. Vendor platforms, website enquiries)
• Optimise product listings, pricing, and visibility across platforms
• Monitor performance (conversion rates, order value, repeat orders) and improve results
• Work with marketing to drive traffic and conversions for online catering channels
Product & Package Development
• Develop attractive and profitable catering packages (e.g. individual meals, sharing sets, tea-break menus)
• Create bundles suited for office consumption and small events
• Adapt menus for different channels (platforms, direct sales, retail)
• Ensure pricing aligns with cost targets and market competitiveness
Events & Space Monetisation
• Promote and sell restaurant and bar spaces for small events (meetings, corporate gatherings, private functions)
• Develop event packages combining food, space, and simple experiences (e.g. dinner with drinks)
• Increase utilisation of underused outlet spaces
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Total catering revenue (by channel: corporate, online, retail)
• Growth of platform sales (Vendor portal and company web portal, etc.)
• Conversion rate of inbound enquiries
• Number of new and repeat corporate clients
• Utilisation rate of event spaces
• Profit margins and cost control
Working Conditions
• Office-based role with on-site event support as required
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays during peak periods
• Physical requirements may include standing for extended hours and lifting of light equipment
Requirements
• 3–5 years experience in sales, business development, or catering/events
• Experience with online food platforms or e-commerce channels is a strong advantage
• Strong understanding of corporate sales and B2B relationships
• Proven ability to drive revenue growth
• Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable building from scratch
• Strong coordination and communication skills
