Position Summary:

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the camp laundry facility at HKN's Rmilan Field, Syria, ensuring workwear, coveralls, linen, and personal clothing are washed, dried, folded, and returned in a clean, hygienic, and timely manner. The role covers safe operation of laundry machines, proper separation of normal clothing from dirty coveralls, and maintenance of a clean, safe, and well-organised laundry environment operating on a 24/7 basis.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate top-load and front-load washing machines and dryers safely and correctly for each laundry type.
• Sort and separate laundry items, keeping normal clothing and dirty/oily coveralls in designated areas to avoid cross-contamination.
• Collect dirty laundry from designated drop-off points and deliver clean laundry back to camp residents as scheduled.
• Measure and use detergents and cleaning agents correctly, following supplier and safety guidelines.
• Fold and, where required, iron clean clothing and linen at the designated folding/ironing stations.
• Maintain the laundry waiting area in a clean, tidy, and organised condition for camp residents.
• Check all pockets thoroughly before washing clothes to ensure no personal items are left inside, preventing damage to items and laundry machines.
• Follow the daily record list provided by the Camp Supervisor to ensure accurate tracking and proper completion of all laundry activities.
• Clean and maintain laundry machine filters regularly to ensure efficient operation and prevent blockages or equipment damage.
• Monitor machines continuously during operation and ensure you remain in the laundry area while equipment is running. Do not leave the machines unattended while in use.
• Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of detergent and laundry consumables; report shortages promptly.
• Clean and maintain laundry machines, work surfaces, and storage areas daily.
• Report any equipment faults, leaks, or breakdowns to the Camp Supervisor immediately.
• Follow all fire safety, ventilation, and electrical safety procedures within the laundry facility.
• Maintain accurate laundry logs, including item counts and turnaround records, where required.
• Ensure CCTV-monitored areas and access points remain clear and functioning as per facility design.
• Operate within the laundry facility's 24/7 shift roster, ensuring continuous service coverage.
• Wear correct PPE and follow hygiene procedures to prevent contamination between clothing types.
• Support general housekeeping tasks as directed by the Camp Supervisor during quiet periods.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, or similar hygiene-related role is preferred.
• Basic understanding of fabric types, detergents, and safe machine operation.
• Must be physically fit and able to perform manual duties, including lifting and standing, for extended periods.
• Must be of legal age to work (18 years or older) as per applicable labour law.
• Must hold a valid medical/health certificate ("Yellow Card") and be free from communicable conditions such as scabies.
• Willingness and ability to live and work in a remote field/camp environment.
• Flexible to work rotational shift patterns, including day and night shifts, in support of 24/7 operations.
• Good attention to detail and a responsible, trustworthy attitude given access to personal belongings.
