What does a CBSA Shift Supervisor do?
As a CBSA Tactical Security Supervisor, you will lead and manage a team of tactical security guards, ensuring the safety and security of people in federal facilities who are experiencing immigration complications. This role requires vigilance, tactical skill, leadership, and compassion, as you will be working with individuals in vulnerable situations.
Leadership & Supervision:

Assign guards to their required posts or assignments.

Supervise all guards on duty, whether they are providing care and control of individuals at the IHC or satellite offices, conducting transports, or performing other contracted services.

Receive shift briefings and debrief guards, ensuring they are up-to-date on procedures or situations within the first 15 minutes of each shift.

Provide support, assistance, and ongoing training to all Contractor resources.

Identify and document performance deficiencies and potential training gaps, recommending corrective actions as needed.

Coordinate guard breaks, meal times, and individual placement according to CBSA guidance.
Qualifications to become a CBSA Supervisor
- Proven experience as a Security Supervisor, managing teams of 10+ guards.

1–3 years of personnel management experience in a unionized environment.

Experience in healthcare or vulnerable sector environments is an asset.

Valid Ontario Security Guard License.

Current First Aid/CPR Certification from a WSIB-recognized provider.

Canadian citizen or permanent resident with at least 5 years of residency.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to pass Public Works Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Minimum 2 years of experience in vulnerable sector security.

Minimum 2 years tactical security experience.

Leadership skills and ability to manage high-stress environments effectively.

Experience in care and control of individuals in law enforcement, court services, hospital, or private security services.
