What Does a CDL Driver Do?

• Deliver goods and materials to designated locations
• Maintain a customer-focused approach and uphold company values
• Manage time and schedules efficiently for on-time deliveries
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively
• Ensure a clean driving record and practice safe driving habits
• Support day-to-day yard operations when not actively making deliveries, including loading customers, organizing and stocking materials, operating a forklift and assisting wherever needed
• Take an active role in helping develop and maintain a safe, organized and efficient lumber yard as the business continues to grow
• Travel locally as required for deliveries and pick-ups
• Utilize previous building material experience if available
• Lift and carry items 25-50lbs consistently
• Be flexible to work overtime when needed
• Additional duties as assigned

What Does It Take to Be Successful as a CDL Driver?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Construction or building material experience is preferred, but not required
• 1+ year of forklift experience required
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Clean driving record and valid CDL driver's license
• Willingness to travel locally
• Ability to lift up to climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 100 lbs with assistance, handle large odd-shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas
• Requires frequent standing and walking
• Ability to work outside in varying temperatures and weather
• Team-oriented and willing to step into different areas of the yard based on the needs of the business
• Comfortable working in a growing operation where delivery volume may vary and responsibilities will include both driving and hands-on yard support
• Self-motivated and able to identify what needs to be done to keep the yard organized, efficient and customer-ready
• Results-oriented with the ability to serve stores with humility and be a steward of Nation’s Best’s values
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexible
• Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skills
