Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily activities for assigned groups of classrooms or center ensuring quality of educational services and implementation of approved curriculum.
  • Supervises classroom staff ensuring appropriate trainings are obtained and reinforced, agency best practices and policies are implemented, conducts timely and accurate performance evaluations, and develops and monitors works schedules.
  • Provides direct oversight for managing early childhood screenings, referrals, assessments, and special education service provision for those children who qualify including providing supports for families and staff.
  • Coordinates with Early Intervention organizations and local school departments; advocates for children and families at meetings; supports classroom/home visiting staff in their provision of services for children with special needs by providing observations, hands-on modeling of recommended strategies, and resource and referral information for staff and families.
  • Ensures staff conducts home visits in a timely manner, provides support to ensure high quality parent communications during meetings and home visits. Ensures the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP) on a timely basis and facilitates team meetings. Ensures adequate documentation of team meetings and follow through of decisions.
  • Facilitates and manages parent activities, maintains and distributes as directed the records of each meeting and encourages maximum participation of parents. Ensures quality communication to and from the parent committees. Ensures appropriate approvals are in place prior to implementing and that policies are followed with respect to parent committee.
  • Responsible for actively assisting the Education Coordinator and working as a team to ensure the component is meeting its goals. Clearly communicates within the team and with the management team and colleagues.
